One thing that drives me nuts is spending a decent amount of money on a toy and Socrates tearing it to pieces in 20 minutes. I thought it might be nice to have some suggestions for toys that can stand up to our breed's abuse. What are your dogs favorite/most durable toys?

The best toys that I have gotten for Socrates are the KONG, the KONG Wubba (Oh man does he love that thing), and the Hard Core Fire Hose Toy which he chews like a maniac. The one thing that I do have to say about the fire hose toy is Socrates tends to just chew on the corners. If your dog tries to rip his toys, I'm not sure how well it will hold up but it seems great.

Mine destroy toys as well they do not like the kongs as much not as easy to destroy they will play with them but I found a toy a week ago it is almost like a fire hose material around a water bottle they had the fire hose toy also this toy has held up so far and they really like it and the crunching sound. I had purchased a similar toy at Petsmart but the material was not as strong and was destroyed in a day. I purchased this thing at a petfood store and it was only $10. do not know the name but will have to get it in a couple weeks I will be going back for food so I am going to purchase a couple more of these things

The toy is made by four paws I am sure like all toys it will be killed in time but is holding up even with chewing on the corners

MJ has 3 Kong XLs for crate time (there is always 1 in the process of being cleaned, and 2 are always ready to go in the freezer), but she doesn't get toys to just chew on and rip apart while I'm home. She gets a RMB to gnaw on/eat every morning. As far as acutal toys, tugs are her thing. She has a jute tug, a firehose tug, and a french linen tug for interactive play, along with her flirtpole and springpole.

Well Hazel's favorite toy is a Jolly Ball, but they do get destroyed. They also love the Cuz but they chew the feet off.

I have found that Omaha Vaccine has the best price on toys. Something like $5-6 for a large Kong and Wubbas

Lucky for me if I give Bird a tennis ball he is set for the day :) That is one thing he will not destroy....he treats them like they are precious babies.

    Go with a Gough Nut!

I tried the Galleo Bone, it wasn't bad until I heard my sister's dog broke so many teeth on one. Put that away.

Vet suggested Gough Nut as did BlueLuke. This thing is FANTASTIC! Moose loves it and chews it like a baby on a pacifier! Best thing? No pieces, punctures or torn parts! It's not even dented in three weeks. This is a winner folks! I love it.

My humongous German shepherd loves it too. I have finally found a safe and practical toy for my dogs! :sonn_u11:
  8. Hey. Kajun is the world's most destructive. I haven't found a toy yet, that he likes, but can't destroy. Don't know if you're dog is ball crazy, but mine is. He loves the orbee balls. They're durable. Especially the silver one and the white/glo in the dark one. He can't destroy them...but his sister can. Once she gets it started, they're done for. They usually last him a month before she gets to tear them up though.

Wish I could get a BoomerBall but the shipping is almost the same as the actual ball. :P Jolly Ball didn't last long here. My dogs love chasing a laser, playing fetch with sticks, a popped basketball, playing tug with homemade stuff, springpole, and a tire.

You can see the popped basketball and tire here, I cut up the tire the other day though so he could carry it more easily since I couldn't toss the 5lb tire for him. :P

Duke LOVES nylabones...even tho they do get worn out over time. His Jollyball has lasted since xmas (longer than I thought it would) but its about to be retired since it has holes all over it.

He destroys the Kong Wuba without much effort, but he does love to play with it before it goes away too. We havent found anything that actually lasts forever, but if we can get a month or two out of it, we're satisfied.

Im definetly going to try some of the toys recommended here. Hopefully they'll last!

I'll have to try the gough nut. I bought the Large Kong and a 1/3 of it was chewed off (the small end) in no time flat. I took it away and gave it back the next day. It was such a waste of money! It only lasted a few days. I think I should have picked up XXL but I'm hesitant to spend the money again. So I'm going to give the gough nut a try. I just read on BlueLuke's site that the company will replace it if the dog manages to destroy it. Just have to pay return shipping. http://www.lukesallnatural.com/goughnuts-chew-toy-for-dogs-p-4104.html

Believe it or not, those squeaky balls made by JW last for months around my house! The squakers are durable and my dogs have yet to do a "squeakectomy" on one. The eGGe is wonderful, but I do not recomend unsupervised play with the eGGe. If my dogs were not supervised, the small end of the eGGe would have been chewed off by now, and I have heard that GSDs chew the ends of on a regular basis.

I almost had my teeth broken with a Galleo Bone. One of my dogs, not sure who, dropped one on my face while I was sleeping. Woke up in excruciating pain with both of them standing over me grinning like idiots.

Well today was christmas for Socrates...

We bought the KONG Zinger AND the KONG Wobbler. I give both toys five stars.

Socrates has a chuck-it but he doesn't like it nearly as much as the zinger. The ring bounces and rolls with really peaks his interest. He is a big fan.

The Wobbler is awesome too!! It kept him occupied for a half hour when we got home today and there was only a half cup of kibble in it.

I found a toy at walmart called tuff stuff. Chica has had it for a week and still hasn't tore it up. I got it for $7.

We tried the zinger, but don't let your dog(s) tug with it.. Chansey and Zephyr broke theirs an hour into it at the beach.. and the rings aren't all that cheap. It was also harder to toss than the chuck-it. I also like that the chuckit works with any tennis balls, though I liked the rubber ones you can get.
