True when someone says they want a guard dog I automatically see a red flag, a dog is so much more than a home security system and should never be the first line of protection IMO; I do believe it can be done correctly but most people don't; they just get a "guard dog" and leave it alone in the yard like a "thing" ... I didn't get that impression from the OP but then again the trend toward PC's in "the hood" being fashionable of late is a bit disturbing.

I wouldn't get either unless the pup came from proven working stock from a reputable and honest owner/breeder who has worked the parent dogs and has also healthtested the parents dogs as well (both breeds are known for hip and elbow dysplasia).

Even if it was my bestest friend in the whole wide world that was the breeder, I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole unless my bestest friend strictly met all the above criteria.

the fact that youre even asking worrys me. no offense. truly, i dont think you could handle a properly bred presa. most people cant. they are SERIOUS dogs. if you do get a presa i hope you have alot of years experience with dogs and training. not to mention a large pair of balls.

A guard or protection dog is almost entirely useless in most situations which you seem to be preparing for. I've worked dogs in both Personal Protection and regular bitework, and would not rely on either to be my sole protection. Regardless of the amount of training and preparation, in order for them to be effective, I would personally need to step in and do something before they could truly be effective.

As Miakoda said, I wouldn't even consider a dog unless it was from proven working stock when it comes to PP. That being said, I think there is a very small percentage of the populus who could truly handle such a dog, and I don't think you are one of them.

I would look into other means of protection if I were you.

Really now? In the same thread you're going to try and BS me and everyone else?

YOUR FIRST POST in this thread, you said, and I quote
    Hmmm. OK, Let's move on.

Let's be clear. Anyone who has seen me on a forums, knows that I'm far from bashing you. Some might even say I'm being nice to you at this point.

Again, What? So you do or you do not need the dog because you "live in the hood"? I don't care what you've been through, it's not my business, I know people go through terrible things in life, but YOU are unqualified to own a true protection dog. Your posts scream a lack of knowledge. Just because you know a few dog breed names, does NOT mean you actually know what you are doing.

    From a related thread here - http://www.pitbull-chat.com/showthread.php?t=36791

People can clearly see that you have no clue what you are talking about.

    Personally, this statement:
... is one of the most asinine statements made. You threw the APBT breed, as well as the Bolio and Mayday lines down under the bus. It is a stupid comment, made by someone who has an extreme lack of understanding of what they are saying. Your comment there, as well as others, seem to be more of someone who is just overly excited about the breed, yet lacking in any sort of knowledge or common sense in what is what with the APBT.

What experience? And I'm not looking for, "I played with a friend's Presa pup". I'm talking true PP or Bitework experience.

For one he wasn't a pup a full grown presa I have to admit to you did get me hhahahahahaha its funny though how your just easily tracking down all my posts like never before im not even argue
  11. Big_Ant

    Big_Ant Little Dog

I didn't track down anything, this is your second thread about the SAME topic, PROTECTION. The first post I referred to was in this thread, so there was no tracking. The second was from the previous discussion, which was less than a few days ago, and I remember thinking to myself, "What a dumbass", so the thread stuck in my head for this convo.

So, you really have no experience, you lied about a bunch of shit, and you still think that you are qualified to own a real protection breed?
  12. Cream is Pitbulls

    Cream is Pitbulls Little Dog

Did you call me a dumb ass? So really have I do have expernice i have dealt with the hardy breeds I didn't lie about shit what so ever and yes i do still think I can own a REAL PROTECTION BREED you really didn't have to come on this thread an djust automatically bash me kike this all becuase I amde mistakes in the past of that other Post please im not the one like I said before Im not even gonna argue

    sugarbabii363 Big Dog

Uh oh :no2: If this is true, sorry but I have to go with Big_Ant, these are not dogs to mess around with. Only someone with experience should own any of these breeds. You definitely do not want to end up with a stupid aggressive 100+ pound dog, just because you didn't know how to handle it. It's not a good idea IMO.
  14. Big_Ant

    Big_Ant Little Dog

I did and I didn't, that's the beauty of it.

Really? What experience, because I asked before and you didn't have a response other than the Presa, which you've since said was a puppy. That is not experience.

Yes you did. You said the reason for the dog wasn't because of you 'living in the hood' when you clearly stated that was the reason in the first posting in this thread. That my friend is a lie. L - I - E.

PAST? That was a couple fucking days ago, not months, not years. So, you are gonna tell me that you've reformed and gained this vast knowledge of how to be an owner of a true working dog in the last few days?
