    I don't know.

It depends on what you can handle.

I personally don't believe I could handle either.

That would be a tough decision. I rescued a Rottie once, it was skin and bones, I took it home and fed it and found it a home. Turns out it was a big love bug. It sounded good behind the gate, but was a love muffin.
  5. Rotties are great loyal and smart i never had any experience with a presa

Best thing to do is really get your feet wet with both breeds, do some hands on with the dogs at the breeder's homes, research and make a list of pros and cons...

When I was younger a friend of mine gave us a Roti cross doberman and he was a wonderful dog.
The only problem my friend's father had was that when his daughter was naughty and he tried to give her a hiding the Roti wouldn't let him.

ither breed, even if they turned out to be a total marshmallow, would scare off visitors on looks alone.

I do think of Rotties as more "one family" dogs and Presas as more, "one person" dogs, but maybe that is just the stereotype.

Not much experience with either but I like them. Both breeds are too big and too much work (training) for me to probably ever have one

I wouldn't really suggest a presa if you are not experienced with the breed. I know it can be said for every breed but a presa(from my experience) is a challenging dog and not for new owners. They are great dogs but you must be able to control the 100+ pound dog.

Rotties are amazing dogs. We have owned one in the past who was an excellent gaurd dog that was also a great family dog. If you train them right they are awesome.

In my opinion I would choose a rottie, but its your choice and goodluck with your desicion! :)

If I wanted a guard dog I would get myself a nice African Boerboel ^^
    gotta LOVE those dogs!

great guard dogs who will naturally protect the weaker of the family (women and kids)
and I've read that those dogs don't attack first as a GSD, but will rather block the passage with their massive bodies, let out a growl, but are totally OK with the intruder leaving the home... but he better not approach or try to pass or he'll bite ^^
great with kids also... very patient and tolerant with them ;)

but honestly, after some of your posts I really think you should do waaay more research on the breed you allready have before even considering another dog.
and do LOTS of research on the next breed you'll get, especially if it's a guard dog.
that's just my opinion, no offence at all...

Depends on what you can handle. I wouldn't recommend either breeds to most people to be honest. Not that they both aren't wonderful breeds (because they are) it's just that most people truly can not handle these types of dogs.

They are both serious gaurdian breeds...the presa especially. They should only be owned by people who understand them inside and out and know how to handle them correctly.

As patch said the best thing you can do is research each breed...talk to people who own them. ect. and make sure that they suit your lifestyle before making any decisions.

    Good luck.

I think im gonna choose the Presa canario it seems like my type of breed to be honest with you I ahve done expernice with thembefore and their not really all fun and games and im not offeneded at all Boerbol wouldn't be bad that might be the breed for me if you ask me i might end up gettin Rottie though
