I got Phoenix from a BYB before I knew better and Penny & Orion are from his only two litters. I got Penny's mom and 6 of the 7 pups in that litter fixed and Orion's mom, smh, was NOT supposed to happen, but it did and I got the mom and 9 of the 10 pups out of that litter fixed.
And Phoebe I got from a reputable breeder who is a gret friend and mentor of mine. :D

Tanner and Zoe were both from accidental breedings... Neither of their parents owners were planning on breeding, they just got hooked up... and that was it...

the lady i got rambo from had lots of pit bulls. all had papers. and great dogs. but she only bred the 2 she felt deemed worthy. yes yall would call her a byb but i think of her as someone who gave me a damn great dog. or a best friend.

If you have papers and she has registered dogs, then she is NOT a BYB. ;)

I got my Jess from a lady who worked at a shelter and asked me to keep her for a few days so that she would not be PTS. Obviously, she stayed. I got my Lance from a Rescue. :)

Levi was born the morning after his mother was taken from a breeder from a rescue in the local area. I fostered he and his sister and adopted Levi.

Digger Do was a rescue out of the Delano Shelter in CA. She was past her Euth Date and we had her flown here.

Angus was from Seguin Animal Control in Texas. he was found stray at 3 months with another dog and was demidex positive.

Nadine is a mix, and was the product of irresponsible neighbors. the Weimeriner jumped the fence and got to the pit bull, the pitbull owners abandoned the pups to the Weimeriner's owner forcing them to bottle feed and find homes. There were 15 puppies and Nadine was named Princess Diana when we bought her.

Junior is not a pit, he is AB and was from the Williamson County Shelter he was a stray at about 3 months old and was amaciated and very ill. We thought he was a white boxer, but with meds and a good diet we found out he is AB.

We get most of our dogs through rescue, but are not opposed to people purchasing papered dogs, there are some beautiful ones out there and there are less questionable backgrounds. I love my rescues.

Got Riley my Mix from a rescue - he was abused and very scared of women when i got him ..waited 6 weeks i told em its easier to get a gun permit to carry in pa than to adopt a dog.
And Emma my pit from the same rescue she had pnuemonia and a bit of mange but had to have her .. mind u that transaction took a weekend go figure lol. I don't think i could buy a dog after the success i have had with these too. Patience training and love go a long way ive learned.

Friend of mine, I don't know that I would call it a BYB, the dogs just figured out how to do it on their own!
  14. where to start??? LOL
Mercy, 18 month old Rott was "rescued" from a local store that sells puppies, mostly designer dogs so a lot of the bigger dogs go ignored. Well, Mercy was 3.5 months old, alone, had a hernia and BAD cough (which turned out to be pneumonia) and living in a 3 X 3 space with almost no attention. We had no intention of getting a dog since we had just moved from 1000 miles away and weren't even settled but we just couldn't leave her there.

Faith, 13 month old AmStaff was rescued from Eleven:Eleven Pit Bull Rescue in Dickson, TN. We wanted Mercy to have a companion and wanted to rescue another little soul. We went to meet them and they are FABULOUS! Faith was only 8 weeks old but had already spent 3 weeks of her life shoved in a small crate and then pushed into a closet because she would cry (imagine that????) so the POS PO took her to a shelter knowing she would be euthed just for her breed. A nice guy at the shelter called Eleven:Eleven to see if Jason & Kristen could help.

Truth & Justice also came from Eleven:Eleven. Faith is such a pack dog we wanted to rescue another to have 3 for her. Well, these two brothers had been born as part of a large litter from a female that was rescued from a BYB who wasn't feeding them. Suki was so starved they couldn't tell she was pregnant until the ulta-sound! After some decent food and care, she fattened right up and ended up delivering 13 pups! Truth & Justice were the last 2 of the litter and couldn't bear to be apart so we adopted both of them.

Saint, 10 month old AmStaff was thrown out in a park near our house. Originally, he was a foster. He was so scared and meek and had all sorts of wounds (he had a full ring of neck wounds from a too small collar) and demodex. Once we had him all patched up, he's so attached to us he cries when we are out of his sight and has to sleep with Truth or they both cry. Obviously, he couldn't go anywhere!

Hope, 7 month old Catahoula, was actually shoved in a mail slot at a humane society. We went to Dickson to help Eleven:Eleven with some fighting dogs that had been rescued from Mayfield, KY and they had Hope. Catahoulas are a bit different than bullies and Jason & Kristen were scrambling to find her a place where she could get the training and such she needs. Christian fell in love instantly! So, she then had a home.

Temperance, 5 month old Rott was "rescued" from a BYB who was selling pups on the side of the road. We approached to get a license number and such only to hear the people looking at the puppies talking about how to make these 5 week old puppies bite people and other dogs. The BYB wouldn't give us the litter and we couldn't afford to buy them all, so there were 2 females and we talked a nice lady who was there into buying 1 female and we took Tempe. At least those two females will not be churning out more litters for BYB's.

Our foster, Mia is about 5-6 months old. SHe was abandoned at my vet's because he POS PO thought puppy shots were too expensive! They have kept her there and cared for her and she is now being fostered in our home so we can work on her manners for adoption.

So, that's a long story but I think it gives a good background on what we do at our house! We are not a rescue but we do try to help rescues and organizations to promote spay/neuter programs, fight BSL, educate people about the dangers of chaining, promote responsible ownership, etc. Mollie's Nana actually adopted her new baby from us!

I got both my dogs from a backyard breeder. The breeder is a good friend of mine but the man shouldn't be allowed to own a flea much less a dog. Thankfully or not, his dogs were stolen and he's out of business now. Betty my oldest, I turned down several times because I just didn't need or want a dog, much less a vicious pit bull, I have cats. He brought her over to my river house and dumped her. I came home and discovered want her or not, I had a pit bull puppy. That was 4 yrs ago and I wouldn't take anything for her. My wife of over 30 yrs had better not ever say something like the dog or me. My second dog Maggie came from the same gentleman, don't get me wrong, He is a good man and I am proud to call him my friend. I have literally seen him take the shirt off his back and give to a child that was cold and exposed to the elements. That's another story, though. He just shouldn't have pets. Maggie was the runt of the litter and the last of his puppies, her ribs were showing and she was wormy as hell. He said that I could have her if I wanted but damn I had one dog and I just didn't need another mouth to feed.I turned her down and Betty and I rode on out to the river for what was to be a long weekend. I thought and thought about Maggie and after a short while Betty and I loaded up and went and picked Maggie up. Now I have 2 Pitys. No papers of course and both have been spade. They are the loves of my life:sonn_u11:

Red came from a guy that had AST's that he got from a crappy breeder. Not sure that the AKC papers aren't hung, in fact I'm pretty sure that they are. He did do OFA on hips. He was essentially a BYB. I got her for free as 1/2 the litter had been stolen and he just wanted these ones to go to a good home.

Judge my GSD came from a VERY reputable breeder.

  19. "Found or rescued from abusive situation myself and kept"

Eli was being abused and such by my neighboor. My neighboor's relative was living with me at the time, and he went over there.. seen the dog (while drunk) and decided he felt sorry for him and was going to keep him. When he sobered up, and realized what a pain in the butt a puppy could be, he asked me to find him a home. I knew he was going to be my dog before the guy even figured out he didn't want him anymore.. lol

Anyway, he's got a great home now! That's all that matters :)
  20. Bowser

    Bowser Puppy

My ex-girlfriend's brother in law (BYB) gave her Bowser when we were still dating, he was 8 weeks old at the time. When we broke up not much later, she took the dog to her mom's house since she could not have him at her new apartment. Since her mother already had an 8 year old Alaskan Malamute who is very dominant, I was worried that as he got older they may get into a fight and being disabled she would not be able to do much about it.

So, I started taking Bowser to spend the night with me from time to time just so I knew he was ok. After awhile he started growing on me and since nobody really wanted him where he was at he kind of just became my dog.

Now he goes everywhere with me and it would not be the same without him around.
