i like people names.I have Albert, who came with his name but I love it. before that Luigi, and before that Vito. my dog who we got when i was 13 and stayed with my mom when i moved out was names Birdie, and the two cats we fostered years ago we named Jack and Peter. Marigold and Rufus are names i've got waiting to be right for future dogs. but i also like funny names, Superman is great, and I like Acorn and Goofy! a neighbor has a dog named biscuit which strikes me as so old fashioned and funny.

In weight pull and agility there is always a person who calls out the dogs' names as their turn to compete approaches. My dog's names have been mispronounced numerous times. I get it with Soleil (it is so-lay, but I get so-leel a lot, the best was so-evil), but people get Scheme's name wrong, too. So, I'm really tempted to just name a dog something hard to pronounce. For instance, I could have the registered name Cautionary Tale, and then have the call name be Tion (pronounced "shun"). Also, in agility, if you swear (and the judge hears you), you get 5 faults. So, I thought I could name a dog Disaster, call it Aster, but on course I'd probably wind up saying "Ass" a bunch of times. Tempting.

I like action names, strong names, objects, names that mean something, animal names. I like a lot of different things. Not a fan of people names but a lot of my animals do have human names. Some of my older ones have middle names too but some of the younger ones don't.

Dogs: Emily Rose, Bayleigh Laine, Pirate, Penny Jayne, Gremlin, DJ, Kaiser von Hoosen
Cats: Destiny May, Angel Marie, Oden Parker, Possum Alexander, Phantom

(these are not their registered names, call names with middle names, for example if your kid's in trouble and call them by their full name)

You can tell the older animals just by their naming style. lol Pirate, Gremlin, and Phantom. No middle names. :P

Crash earned his name. Gremlin.. I had a few names picked out for him before I picked him up, and thought I would wait to make it official once he got here. After I spent a few hours with him, I knew he had to be Gremlin. He makes Gremlin noises too. So, they kinda have to "work" with my dogs, they have to earn their name. I had a foster I didn't name for over a week because he had no personality. He really liked cheerios as training treats though, so his name was (and still is) Cheerio.

I don't think I name for personality, more like "oh he looks like a ____", whenever I tell people Moose's name they say "He looks like a moose" or something!

I go for human names but they have to sort of "suit" them?
With my first dog (and second...and third lol!)I had names chosen out but none of them fit/ mayors and then when I went to collect them a name "came to me" lol and just suited them and stuck. First I had Kia,then Kaizer and now Nell (who was "Patch" pre adoption and didn't suit her at all!!).

Not dog related but all my Ferrets also had human names and some of my fish :o
