This will be sort of a "for fun" post!

What kind of dog names do you like? As in human named for dogs, food/drink names, "bad ass" names (ex: Tank, Tyson, etc), or animal names (like my dog is named Moose.)

For some reason I'm a sucker for dogs named after animals! Moose, I know a dog named "Fish", I one day what a Leonberger named Bear. (:

I name my dogs based on their personalities. Squirt was a tiny little thing and lifted his leg on every object he could find, so Squirt seemed appropriate. Piggy made these ridiculous little snort/grunts and sounded like a little piglet, so Piggy caught on.

I love dogs that grunt like piggy's. Had a SBT that made those noises and met plenty of Staffies that grunt.

I always go for human names, first and middle and for some reason I prefer "old fashioned" or formal names.
For example we have Veronica Lynn and our previous dog was Frances Abigail.

The rescue called Tonka's "Snickers" because she was so sweet. Then they called her "Blossom." When we saw her, we saw her strength and power, etc. I wanted to call her Tetonka because she looked like a small mighty buffalo to me. My husband didn't like it. So I said what about after the unbreakable sturdy Tonka truck. She always seemed to like her new name very much. I like naming after personalities too.

  9. My dogs name is superman! He's a rescue and all his siblings were named after super hero's and it's so perfect for him and so original i kept it

I usually just look at their faces and go with my gut.
Growing up I had a cockapoo named Toby, a golden retriever named Pacey (after the Dawson's Creek character), a border collie named Chiko, and a cat named Ariki (it means 'king' in the language of Easter Island). Currently I have a St. Bernard cross named Dexter and my APBT named Mystique.
I guess I've never really stuck to one type of name only. :-D

Mine seem to end up with people names, whether I name them or not, Gage came with his name, so did Hettie, Bristol I named, and if new puppy works out she is named Amy Pond. Diesel is the only one with a dog name, hubby chose it, lol.

Always been a fan of the food names haha. My dog now is named after my favorite shot of liquor, "Sambuca".

My next will be jäger or nacho depending on coloration.

I like random names and I feel the dogs name themselves if u pay attention to there "quirks". My blue was already named blue when we got him. Brooklyn was named because they found her in a scrap yard in Brooklyn.
