What do you feed your dog?

With the recent threads regarding the Purina law suit, it has me curious to see what is the most popular brand used. I've read different threads where a brand is mentioned and now I want to see it all in one place. I did also notice some of you feed raw. I visited the link Unoriginal posted on another thread, the dog food advisor, it was very informative. I'm ashamed to admit it, but all this time I thought I was feeding my dogs a good dog food and it's not!!! That being said, I would also appreciate your advice on say a 4 star one to switch to. I can't afford the most expensive, with 4 dogs and a lot of people to feed, but I can sure as hell do better than a 1 star! Thanks.....this is me after I read about mine :no2:

Whole Earth Farms by Merrick 4.5 star rating. I feed the Adult Recipe, no allergies here. But they do have a grain free formula.

What is it that you are feeding that made you think it was a good food?

LOL! Pedigree, and it cost more than the other brands, so stupid me thinks it must be good. Also I asked my vet (who belongs to the AAHA), 20 years ago when I had my AKC Chows what kind of food should I feed, I was told Pedigree! Smh

I rotate between canine caviar, first mate, bor*al, and sometimes now fresh, fromm, and acana and orijen if a bag arrives damaged at work.

Also, I'd like to know where to purchase the food once I make my decision. Based on the info I gather here. Thanks all!

My guideline is always to figure out how much you can afford to spend per month for food and then buy the best food you can for that price.

You don't list your location but if you have a Costco around you I can recommend Nature's Domain. We feed the fish and potato formula and all of our dogs do well on it. If you have a Tractor Supply around you they also have good prices on Taste of the Wild which many people feed.

The other option, if you don't have any places to buy from, is to use one of the online delivery services. They often have sales and decent prices on food.

I'm working on switching Tank from Iams to Blue Buffalo Wilderness large breed Salmon. At PetSmart the beat you can get is Blue buffalo, Simply Nourish, Nulo, Wellness, and Science Diet. Easy way to tell is in any PetSmart the food is set up by its "rank" there the grocery isle.. Which has Purina and pedigree. Iams and all that junk. Go to the isle FURTHEST from those lol and you'll see Blue Buffalo etc.

That's how we do it at PM.. Not sure about other chain stores

Science Diet is NOT a good food fyi. Not sure what makes you think that. Read the label and ratings.

I just go by what I'm told as am employee. Guess I should make that a fair warning lol

Let's be honest. My chihuahua gets whatever bag of food we find at Target for less than $20 for the biggest bag -.-'

Yeah SD is complete junk, you should research stuff on your own before you go out and speak on it.

Science Diet dude came by the store and brought me a ton of food and drinks. What can I say? I like food. I mean just based on a quick google search I couldn't find a super ton of info.. BUT I also fail at Google sometimes. I am by far not an expert in dog food. I work in Pet Care. The side of the store with animals is my home, dog food is a foreign country to me. I guess I should have stressed that like I normally do to customers who start asking me about food "Sorry ma'am/sir, but I honestly know next to nothing besides Blue Buffalo is good stuff and you should steer away from that last isle over there with the grocery brands."

*shrug*

Sorry.
