I am no expert, and I might be wrong, but I thought that Ruffian as more of an Amstaff bloodline.

Hopefully someone more knowledge can help you out.

wow, technicalities, yes it IS. Sorry. according to this: http://lil.amstaff.free.fr/ruffian.htm he came from UKC parents, hence why i said 'more of'. However he was registered AKC so yes he IS. again, my apologies. And I wasnt looking for a breeder, simply looking for information on the line itself. Hopefully a mod can move it for me so i may get replies from members who know the amstaff lines.

A lot of amstaff lines you will see in AMbully lines now as well. Some people (not you) think ruffian, gaff, york, etc are ambully lines when they are Amstaff lines, but many ambully breeders have them in their dogs ped. UKC dogs may be reg APBT, but APBT are not show dogs amstaffs are. Most UKC APBT'S are Amstaffs, not all, but a lot.

That's because the individuals that are overdone in those lines have been selected for by the breeders of "bullies". They are pretty good at that. Sadly, when these overdone dogs get AKC championships, they are pointed at as meeting the Standard, being good Stafs and therefore they (the "bully" breeders) feel justified in calling THEIR dogs correct and "to the Am Staf (or Pit Bull) Standard"; when in fact, the dogs are champions only because we have judges that don't know crap about the breeds.

Here is something about the Ruffian dogs:

    Ruffian History

Every Am Staf alive today has some Ruffian in it's pedigree. The line is often divided into families...

    It sure gets confusing.
Some sites, when talking about Am Staff history, don't even mention the Colby dogs.
Like they were some sort of immaculate conception, Am Staffs...beamed down from heaven in the 1930's.

Here's a site that actually mentions Colby dogs; and has some early pedigrees.(and old pictures)

**disclaimer** I am totally clueless on this subject, I was just looking, as there is a lot of Am Staff in my "grand-dog's" pedigree.
