What breed???

What do you think this boy is? I got him from the shelter. They of course listed him as a pit. Its obvious to anyone with a knowledge of dog breeds. Specifically molosser breeds that this is a mastiff mix.
So what do you think? Pit? Or? What is my boy mixed with?

My eyes are seeing Old English Mastiff/American bull dog.
He looks to be a REALLY big guy! Very handsome.

Looks like an "XL American Bully" ....I've noticed a lot of them appear to be mastiff mixes. Ticking seems to be getting pretty common too.

Well... I def see the mastiff in him I was just uncertain of what type. And American bd is a good guess. I really don't see any pit traits in him really. Just a few personality traits that might be helpful as far as breeds might go; very much like a 2 year old child... possessive and jealous (w a big bad bite to back it up:(! ). Very playful and active. Likes water. Likes other dogs but is def temperamental on his own turf & ready to take on other dogs if he feels they are overstepping their boundaries... often w/o much notice. Very vocal... talks when he is happy, like when I get home from work or when I'm getting his food ready.
Thank you for the. Compliments. He is a big boy (100 lbs) and I think a pretty boy too:)

Oh.... and he drools extensively when he smells or sees food as well as when he eats. Many of my household items have a coat of slobber on them that has to be removed every other day... yuck/ lol

he looks perfect just the way he is! Glad to hear he was rescued :) I agree with the mastiff and american BD educated guesses.

That last picture is funny. I don't know when all dogs taught each other to sit like that. When holt does it we say he's fat dog sitting.

When your dog gets put down by animal control for hurting another dog at the dog park you will rethink your sillyness. Good luck to the dog, hopefully you stick.around and learn something.

First of all, it's spelled "silliness." Second, that post couldn't have been any more negative. Is this the treatment all new members should expect from premium members?

David gave you great advice, but he did assume that you take your boy to the dog park, which maybe you don't (you definitely should not, especially if he is "ready to take on other dogs," as you say). Your dogs do look a little on the heavy side, which is not healthy for them. When you post on a public forum, sometimes you get opinions even if you didn't necessarily ask for them. :) We are all looking out for the dogs here.

He does seem to have some Mastiff in him, maybe a few generations ago, and lots of American Bullies have that blue ticking pattern; I second CrazyK9's "XL Bully" suggestion. I don't see American Bulldog. I love his eyepatch!

Also, the advice David gave you is nothing but realistic constructive advice that you should take into consideration given how you yourself described the dog's disposition and behavior.

Thanks to all who responded to my original post. To the know it all David... lol, still super negative and giving an experienced pit bull owner un needed advice. You can't just take bits of information and assume and direct people. Maybe you should have some kids so you have someone to boss around:) My dog is fine in public. He avoids when another dog aggresses him. Its at home on his own terf. You wanna open ur big mouth know the facts first! Ttyl:)

Even experienced pit bull owners sometimes need to learn more too. Adding smilies to your retaliation dont make it any less rude than his. Just ignore the assumptions made if they arent true. And if it is true that you take your dog to the dog parks and off leash knowing that he can be possessive aggressive and has a bite to back it up then the advice was well intentioned. Sometimes we have to be humble and take criticism and move on knowing better.

With that said holeh huge dog! Hes gorgeous and like you said not much resemblance to the APBT but I see the mentioned breed like OldeEB.
