Well an Opossum it is!

    I know a few people around here that still eat possum. Like you say, they keep them a little while, feed them corn to clean them out, and then cook 'em up. I have never tried it.

    My people always fed them apples and buttermilk, and left over biscuits. kept it in a big chicken wire box pen

    Also, after talking to an Opossum rescue in length today, they think it is possible that he is not tame, rather that he has a head injury. Head injuries are commen with them and has been known to either make them nice for a period of time or permanantly.

    I will be fostering him for their rescue group and getting a licence for him, he should only need about 2 weeks to recover and then can be released.


    The little bugger needs a name!

    Hey NC, your pop-pop was right. If you clean them out they are halfway decnt eatin. But could never eata pet possum!! :)

    Funny story, when I was about 4, one night after dinner we were sitting around the kitchen which had some french doors, well young me looks out and sees a "kitty" peering in at us, and wants to let it in. Well, turns out this white "kitty" was acutally a possum! My parents had to hold be back and scare it away cuz I was so intent on letting the darn thing in. :blush:

  20. No you are not crazy lol. We think she is about 4 or 6 months. She is doing well. When we found her. she had a torn ear and she was limping. She is greating better. she is very sweet. I am going to try and post up some pictures of her. I am still learning how to post pictures on this forum:)
