They were going to euth him, I said id release him off at a friends property after work. Went to deworm him and um, hes friendly? This possum literally acts like he likes being held!

He hasnt hissed, tried to get away, played opossum, nothing. He wants to sit on your lap, be petted and lick your hand.

Um, guess I wont be releasing him eh?

So now hes here until I get a licenced rehabber that wants a pet because he wouldnt make a good wild animal when he was raised as a pet.

EEW. That is a face only a mother could love.

I am sure you will find a good place for the little thing, but where on earth is he gonna be bunking?

I wonder why in the scheme of things, that marsupials have unusually short life spans for their size and metabolic rate? Even in captivity, opossums only live about four years.

Hey now, the Mink was cute! I just didn't want her to eat any ducks or chickens, that's all.:) I still have the last of my friends' 3 ducks. I'm sure she would be more than happy to give you a few weasels if you want them!;)

um yeah, I am going to have to say that the thing fell out of the ugly tree and bounced off of every single branch on the way down....

BUT that does not mean he deserves to die :) good for you

Lol, cool opossum! My hubby brought home 3 opossum babies a couple of yrs. back after the mom had been hit by a car, poor things were trying to nurse off their dead mother (she wasn't playing 'possom...she was bloated and the flies were already at her :(). We took care of the babies for a couple of days until we finally found a rehabber that would take them in (what a wonderful lady she turned out to be...it was cool getting to hear about a lot of her rehab stories...we've since given her a Cardinal to take care of too). It was an interesting fun, experience, but hee, hee, hee, my hubby got the job of helping them to potty. I got the feeding job...I figured I'd just did the lion's share of the diaper changing with my daughter, so he got the potty job- lol!

I tried to save a baby one when I was a kid, one of my dogs found it in my yard, it was only like a week old, we didn't know what to do, so we fed it milk and sugar, and kept it in a drawer with a heating pad, we were advised to put it on a formula, and as soon as we did it died. It was such a cute little thing, it would hold the eyedropper we used to feed it like a bottle.

I wouldn't eat a PET possum for dinner... truthfully the few times I have eaten possum I don't care for it.. it is WAY too greasy. But my Pop-Pop (greatgrand father) used to trap them fairly often and keep them for a few weeks to clean them out and eat then cook them
