Walks like a duck

Ok, I am pulling out all the stops and am just going to ask this. If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, looks exactly like a duck, is a great ambassador to ducks and I am positive that it is a duck, why is it politically incorrect to call it a duck?

    Duck ?? or Not ??

The waterborne American Coot is one good reminder that NOT everything that floats is a duck. A close look at a coot—that small head, those scrawny legs—reveals a different kind of bird entirely. Their dark bodies and white faces are common sights in nearly any open water across the continent, and they often mix with ducks. But they’re closer relatives of the gangly Sandhill Crane and the nearly invisible rails than of Mallards or teal.

dunno, its really only you guys (a general statement) that are all persnikety like that. If someone was to walk a dog that looked and acted like a golden retriever people would call it a golden retriever whether it has papers or not. I fail to see why APBTs are so darn special they can only be called APBTs if they have a piece of paper saying so.

I don't know why people have such a hard time calling their dogs a mix if they don't have a pedigree. If have a purebred is so important, find a good breeder and go about it right way.

I guess that would be like calling my shepherd/doberman mutt a GSD or a Doberman. If it's a mutt, how can it be a purebred?

Well, ducks across the country aren't being banned for the actions of coots for one thing

Or in my case a registered APBT but it's not?

    Is that still a question?

The reason they're so "special" is because most other breeds, namely Golden Retrievers and such, aren't under the gun like APBTs are...

They are too many badly bred mutts running around calling themselves APBTs that its kinda hard to just not care b

Mutt? Would it be wrong to call it a GSD?

IMO, it's not. Others have their reasons for thinking it is, I'll let them explain their opinion. I agreed to disagree on this topic long ago : ).
