  1. Well, maybe my interpretation of your article wasn't exactly as you wanted it to be. Anyone who has been around these dogs long enough know's a DA dog doesn't equal a "good" or a "game" dog, we also agree it's retarted. Have we became best friends yet? lmao Just kiddin

Anyway, it just seemed to me you were kinda leaning toward a non or less DA APBT. Which sounds like a receipe for a AST.

And I never said anywhere that I disagree a breeding-quality dog should be friendly and willing to accept any and ALL human contact? :no2:

That is exactly what makes this breed desirable to me and I'm sure most, if not all on this forum and beyond. We certainly have the most couragous and noble dog ever to grace this planet. If 1/2 of the humans that walked the earth were like our bulldogs, this would be an even better place to exist! :)

YellowJohn, sorry for the late check-back. I think we just misunderstood each other. Sorry for getting defensive. :)

    This is very interesting!

What's even more interesting is that my female looks just like the first few ADBA winners, and she's from an 'accidental' litter of some backyard breeder in South Philly. Her conformation actually does suggest some bloodlines somewhere along the way, but her health issues suggest careless breeding. As long as I've had her she's gotten compliments from true APBT people and comments more like "THAT is a pit bull?" from people who watch too much TV news.

I'd really love to see some of the UKC dogs and AmStaffs conditioned. Why do they insist on keeping them so fat? You can't even see their conformation really, the ADBA dogs are like an open book...you can see everything. :)

not really well cloud be part of it for some but i think its becouse the handdlers are lazy. and they all three came from the same english and irish dogs if the history is right my dogs like(my avatar is one) r adba but have some ukc ch on the ped that have an * meaning there amstaff

i would like to think that each registry standard is of different historical times for the apbt like the ack amstaff being like its was when it was bred for bull baiting and the ukc(before the bull crap started ) american hog and bear hunting and the adba the sad but real fact of pit fighting look. just saying that what i like to imagine not that its the truth truth is simply they have been bred to a different standard so long that they have a big difference in look now

i would like to point out that the adba is the only one of the three that the breeders did not have the dew claws cut

just pointing out that ukc/akc r going for the flashy show dog look were the adba is going for functionality

Well that's debatable. There are numerous AKC & UKC dogs that do working events as well as conformation. "Functionality" in the sense of dog fighting doesn't matter nowadays since it's illegal.

And FWIW, I know some UKC dogs that have their dew claws.

the UKC is older than the ADBA (the UKC was the first to recognize the APBT) and it was all about registering working bulldogs

im not an expert when it comes to coursing hounds, but ive been told they are used for traction...making the dog faster.
i know my dogs use them to hold bones and toys better

I only looked at the peds of a few of the UKC dogs... but they were pretty much all Amstaff :p Love this comparison, it's handy in a lot of examples
