    Adopted :)

Portsmouth SPCA is trying to be no kill, so they generally don't put many down. Which is actually not the best as they have around 75 dogs in stacked 3x3 kennels.

Good, she looked like a doll.

Sounds like the Peninsula SPCA. If you've been there, you know they've got big dogs in cages I wouldn't keep a cat in long...

Yeah I've been there, and have noticed that. It's sad.. I applaud them for trying to find homes for all of the dogs, but for a dog to live in a 3x3 kennel with MAYBE 30min. of out time a day for a year (yes, some dogs have been at Portsmouth for a year) is IMO, abuse.

I agree... The dog I adopted from them had been there for months, spinning in circles in her cage, banging on the door until it would burst open, then she'd run around like a wild girl with the volunteers chasing her. Even the VaBeach AC has kennel runs for the big dogs...

Yeah, Portsmouth has a few larger runs, but they usually have 2-3 dogs in them at a time so it doesn't really give them much more space. Sad :no2:
