So we have a 4 month old mini rex and he likes to go eat dandelions in our backyard. Today he flew out of his harness (which is snug and seemingly bunny proof-if I put it around my hand I can't unsnap the snaps by pulling so I don't know what kind of superhero powers he has-he didn't slip it he unsnapped both snaps) and went bounding across the yard with me sprinting behind him and jumped through the wire fence into the school yard behind our house. I leapt the fence (ok it was a low fence) but he was gone.

I've been out all day on and off looking for him but he's dug himself in darn well (probably because of the heat) and I can't find him anywhere. :( It's supposed to rain like crazy here later, I already talked to the neighbors in case they see him but I don't think a bunny will be very easy to catch. He's not trained enough to respond to his name yet and I am sure the wilds is happier than the house.

I have the worst bunny luck lately (since our last house rabbit went ninja and tried to eat my leg off). Wonder how long he can make it out there (lots of woods and fields but also hawks and eagles). I am so sad, I feel like I should have had him on a backup harness or something. :(

There is a pretty big wild bunny (not hare) population around here and a lot of fields and creeks so maybe he's young enough to find himself some bunny buddies. If I see wild half blue wild bunnies I guess I'll know. :(

It's probably for the best, he was supposed to be a rex not a mini rex and one of my cats kept terrorizing him because he was so small. They all loved our last larger house rabbit and played together nicely.

Actually, domestic rabbits and wild rabbits won't produce babies from my understanding. Good luck finding him!

Thanks, we saw him last night but he was hell bent for not being caught. :D He was with a wild rabbit, I think they graze out near where he escaped. Wild bunnies can mate with domesticated, it's hares that can't mate with them I think.

European wild rabbits can mate with domestics, but cottontails cannot... lol don't as me to explain it...

Glad he's still alive and obviously not doing bad.
