I think PETA is a smokescreen; the big money behind them must come from the industries that really abuse animals.

Because now, no one can speak out for animal rights (even when it's warranted) without being associated with this deplorable group.

If you or I want to speak out against factory farming, or puppy mills, or UNNECCESARY lab animal testing (such as for cosmetics) we will be labeled as PETA fanatics, end of story.

So PETA has effectively shut down any and all discussion about humane treatment of animals.

PETA makes me sick to my stomach. They need to be euthanized....The world would be a better place without them....

Everyone needs to realize what a fraud PETA is.

But Penn and Teller sitting in front of a table of meat aren't going to convince the general public, even though their message was very sound. This was funny and excellent, but I wish there were more legitimate news outlets taking on PETA.

I know Michele you posted one on another forum for example; I think it was a Bay Area news channel which is a start. But I want to see it on 60 minutes, 20/20, Fox, MSNBC, CNN. All at the same time. That would really start to shut them down.

Their complete hypocrisy and immorality needs to be exposed to the world on all of the major news outlets. Otherwise all the public may see is skirmishes between special interests that may not concern them.

Ya know Michele I am tempted to do just that ... but I am having trouble finding anti-PETA materials that would not be considered biased themselves. I wish I could find more intelligent discourse against PETA that does not include terms like "tofu eating freaks." I mean what could be more BESIDE the point? I happen to love tofu.

This Penn and Teller video happens to be one of the the most unbiased, intelligent and thorough anti-PETA pieces I have seen. But of course they have to do it as cussing, leather clad, ribs-eating characters because that is their comedy; their audience expects it.

If I were an investigative journalist I would be hard pressed to find much other than people who apear to be defending their right to eat meat, for example. And that is SO not the point.

Thanks! It was the last one I was thinking of as a "legit news article," from the San Francisco Chronicle. Most excellent piece there.
