I would like to remind everyone of the rules for this forum. There has been a number of rude and nasty posts to newbies lately. Please remember that everyone was "new" at some point.

Please have patience and understanding and teach what you know in a respectful manner. This forum will not tolerate disrespecting anyone.

    Thank you.

I bet if we try really, really hard to coddle idiots, we could turn this forum into the new Prodog. Shall we try?

There's a difference between coddling, educating, and being a dick. The best we can try to do is educate, without being dicks. If we are tactful and factual, while providing constructive criticism, even if someone is offended, we have done nothing wrong. If we're dicks about it, well, we're going to get the same in response.

I know I've been guilty of it, as has everyone else at some point. But sometimes we need to take a step back and realize that we once, in a far distant galaxy, possibly asked a dumb question about something we knew nothing about, and at that point in time (though far away as it may be), we probably wanted someone to be helpful, and not be a dick.

Bottom line, don't be a dick.

I have a cool idea. Toss the obviously "special" kind of idiot that will never have a damn thing to contribute aside from infuriating everyone who actually attempts to use the brain they were born with. You know, the ones who should have been aborted, but instead were born and grew up to be the fuckstick that "rescues" a bitch and then breeds her to the neighbor mutt and then has to ask the forum for advice because they've long since doped out their own braincells? Whose threads tend to reach several pages before anyone steps in, and they're still left to create a new one, even though it's obvious they will NEVER be valuable? Pretty sure being on top of those is a higher priority than expecting people with this breed to have a thick enough skin to be held accountable for their own stupidity.

Report the post. Moderators can't be everywhere. I try to close those threads ASAP when they're in my respective forums. If it's not in my subforum, I can't do anything about it. If you report it, all moderators will get the report and can shut it down reasonably quickly. For them to continue to ask the same question in different threads is considered spamming the forum and they can be reprimanded for it.

...Sometimes, the mods are posting away on those very threads, rather than removing them and banning the user for being too goddamned stupid to breathe if only it wasn't a semi-involuntary bodily function.

I agree with this and will keep this in mind. Going forward, can you report the thread/post please. This way, all the staff will get the report and handle it accordingly.

Sometimes it's not that anyone is being a dick, but rather a grown adult (presumably) is far too sensitive and gets their panties in a wad if they don't like something they hear. Has nothing to do with being new. So walk on eggshells to make sure nobody takes something the wrong way? That's far too much effort and there will still always be someone who still gets offended.

Pretty much this. Just speaking for myself, I get JUST as many complaints about my "tact" when I'm not being "a dick" than when I'm intentionally, point-blank calling someone a fucktard. If not more. No joke.

I agree that sometimes people can be overly sensitive. You also have to take into consideration that communication on forums (typing) is much different than face to face and can possibly be taken the wrong way.

No one has to walk on egg shells. Just be respectful. If the person ends up being a dick, the moderators will take care of it. It would make our jobs easier to report the thread/post so all staff gets notification.

I guess that's the difference, if someone is a dick to me I'm not going to cry about it and lose sleep coming up with ways I can get back at someone..I'm not going to cry to a mod if for some crazy reason my feelings get hurt. I just move on. It's the real world.

Everybody handles things differently. That's what makes the world go round.

I DESPISE the "you can't tell tone on the internet" nonsense. It is only ever used as an excuse for someone to throw a bitch fit when a post isn't dripping in sickly sweetness.

Except that if you own this breed, you NEED to have a thick skin. Period. If someone here calls you out on something fucking stupid you're doing and you run off crying, the fuck are you going to do when some random person you don't know walks up to you in real life and lights into you for daring to walk your "baby-killing monster" in public around innocent little children, when all of "those things" should be rounded up and killed?

I agree. It's really hard to be nice to people when you reply with a friendly "FYI" and you get a nice big "FUCK YOU!" for telling them something they don't want to hear.

I get it, I really do. There's nothing wrong with calling someone out but I do have a problem with disrespect and name calling. If someone is an irresponsible dog owner and doesn't want to learn, it won't matter. I just feel that calling someone out rudely or disrespectfully sets a bad example for the breed owner and the breed. It's bad enough the breed is getting a bad rap.

Still report it. Super-moderators and other moderators with rights within that sub-forum can delete posts and close threads, even if other moderators are in the mix.

ETA: ESPECIALLY report if you believe a moderator is out of line. DO NOT feel that you have no rights to complain against a moderator. Just make sure to go through the proper channels (reporting the post or private messaging an admin), as attacking a moderator on the public forum or via private message is grounds for banning.

I will respectfully disagree. I don't make excuses. But I really do not see how you can tell "tone" by reading a typed response. Yes, all capital letters means you are probably yelling..LOL. Yes, all !!!!!! means you are either excited or pissed off. For me, I have to hear a voice to tell the tone.

I will tell you now, if anyone does that, I will deal with them. That is unacceptable.
