If you ask for advice here, but can't stand "all the knowing owners" (I don't even know what that means), then.. why do you ask for advice? If you yourself have all the answers, and we are childish and disrespectful, I'm not sure what there is for you to learn here.

No one has been disrespectful toward you. People have given their opinion on dog parks, given you links to why they feel that way, etc. You were told to read the sticky we have here specifically for dog parks. It has a ton of good information in it, there's a reason it's a sticky.

Me calling you a brat isn't childish. You responding with "And "Google" is know all and great source for the truth...LMAO!!!!" and other little snarky comments is.

You won't get very far here with your attitude, however.

you are correct, anything can happen anywhere.... but if you know that YOU could of avoided it, and something happened, I bet you would not be able to live with yourself.. nobody said not to go walking with your dog downtown, or to not socialize it. that is if they are fine with other animals as of now.. just not to go to an off leash dog park where you do not know the other owners and there may be very aggressive dogs there who attack YOUR DOG! Sounds like you are only thinking of yourself, and not of the safety of your dog... you want to be seen as the "good owner" with the nice pit bull... but again, if a chiuahua starts yapping, and three dogs get all rowdy up together, they may start throwing that 7lb dog around like a rag doll and you will be looked at as the "bad owner" with another dangerous pit bull! doesn't even have to be aggression... prey drive and a pack of dogs can be dangerous... Is it really worth it? For any dog, not just bullies... get your dog and another dog and meet at someones house with another adult, break sticks, and have some socialization with the dogs with responsible adults who can control the situation if something happens.. I used to think like you too, I did... but once I really thought about it, and had a situation myself, I realized I did not want to risk it and I would rather be in a situation where I would be in control if something ever happened.. Just think about it

So I can get kicked out for NOT agreeing with someone? Really? I'll explain the all knowing comment-When people ask a question like "what kind of pit do I have" I see people respond with such anger....how about you help that person understand the dog they have? I think that is a better idea. Another thing I see is "How big will my pit get" again no need for anger...Hate to say it but MOST people want a BIG pit aka bully...I dont agree with the wide oversized crazy looking bully but I would not attack someone...I would offer my opinion and keep it moving....you cant fight every battle and attack everyone! I would call "read the damn thread" as disrespectful...but thats how I feel. Again the info is great but the tone is not needed. I know you understand what I'm saying and I feel passionate about the breed but I would rather go about it in a nice helpful way verse the "you need to educate yourself"....help eduacte that person not rip them a new one! And I think my attitude is a postive one...I just dont agree with the no dog park thing and I would hope this website would respect a difference in opinion. This was the rant thread ...right?

Seen as the good dog owner... ..no....I enjoy walking my dogs and cant help that people stop us every 10 feet with questions. I think about my dogs every minute of the day....hence the very happy...very healthy dogs that I do own. If had a lab should I take it to the dog park? I understand that people jump when they see a bully ...trust me!! And I have thought about it...again hence why I love this site...I bounce ideads off people and do read about the brred all day long. I understand the concern...I really do

Then please understand the harshness. People here are harsh, yes. They're harsh because they're passionate about their breed(s), just like you say you are. I hope you can understand that the harshness comes from this passion. So many places bully breeds are not allowed. Why? Because, unfortunately, there are A LOT of irresponsible owners out there. Their dogs are allowed to do things that they shouldn't be allowed to do. Sadly, BSL targets responsible and irresponsible owners alike. What if it's not your dog, but some other bully? What if there are one to many "incidents" in your town/county/whatever? What if the breed you love is banned and you are forced to turn your dogs over? It wouldn't be your fault, but you and your dogs could pay the price. That's what is on everyone's mind when they adamantly tell you to please not use a dog park. Just because your dogs have never fought doesn't mean they never will. You never know what will happen. Please don't put your dogs into a position to be part of the problem.

Read some news stories. The "bully" owners almost ALWAYS say they never saw any warnings, the dog was always great before, etc. Maybe they are in denial, and maybe they are telling the truth. It can and does happen. Could you live with yourself if, in that one random chance moment, one of your dogs seriously hurt/killed someone else's pet? If one of your dogs was seriously hurt/killed by some other dog? If there was a news story about your dog and people seethed hatred at you and your beloved pet? Why take the chance?

We can agree to disagree, yes. But when someone puts the reputation of the breed further at stake, people here are going to be angry. Irresponsible dog handling puts their pets (by association) at stake too. Really unfair, but that's the current environment for bully breeds.

I wouldn't take any breed to a dog park. My dogs have never been to one and won't go to one.
Too many stupid owners with badly behaved dogs for me.
Just seems ridiculous to take that chance.
Dogs aren't people and don't need a weekly visit to a park to interact with other dogs.
Seems obvious to me, but I've only owned dogs for 30 years, so I may be wrong

I'm a harsh AND professional smart ass because I know what I'm talking about and I give more than a few shits about a breed I love and care to own.

If I had a nickel for every newbie who got a pit bull or two and endangered all bully breed owners by trying to prove their dog/s are "special" and different by going to dog parks and dog daycare I could buy another house. EVERY incident involving a pit bull and a fight with another dog in an off leash environment is another black mark on this kind of dog and our ability to legally own them.

Exactly. Out of my 4, I only own 1 pit bull. The little dog I have is too nice for his own good, the other 2 are dog aggressive. 2 of my 4 were socialized in dog daycare while I worked there and became dog aggressive before a year old.

But what would I know. I've only been around dogs my whole life and spend 18-20 hours a day around dogs.

You can get kicked out for acting like a jackass and being nasty and rude to people who were polite to you and trying to PROTECT your dog. You're flipping out about "all knowing" dog owners, but acting like a damn fool who won't learn anything new, let alone something beneficial for your dog.

Nobody is going to respect a "difference in opinion" on dog parks when it's something that not only puts YOUR dog in danger, but OUR dogs as well, since when an incident happens it will be fuel for BSL. There are precisely zero "benefits" of dog parks you can't get elsewhere, in a much safer environment.
