I'm tired of children going to the dog park without parents. The children run all over which makes the dogs run then they get upset when a dog jumps on them! It's not a daycare! It's a dog park! If your not with an adult GO HOME! If you don’t have a dog go home!! The best was a little boy maybe around 8 or 0 asked if he could pet my dog I said sure...well the child starts pinching my dog!! REALLY??!! Apparently these little heathens have no guidance since they are obviously far from home (since the dog park is not near homes) and they don’t know how to act around dogs. My child at that age would never leave the front yard let alone pinch a dog and act a fool!!!! It's a shame cause the same type of kids are at PetSmart! 3 kids came around the corner seen my dogs screamed and ran off...keep in mind the oldest child was about 13-15. I walked back around the corner and told them my dogs are friendly and as I was talking to them the oldest girl pushes her younger brother over to my dog as if she was trying to scare him with my dog...wow really??!! Thank god I did not raise MY child to be a FOOL!!!

Because it's a pit/bully they should not go to a dog park? Mine have gone since they are small pups. If the dog shows aggression they should not go. I've seen a lab attack another dog. Not taking a pit/bully to a dog park JUST beacuse of the breed is silly!!!!

    Mother of.....

Okay. First, dog parks are a stupid creation for ANY breed of dog. Aside from idiot owners not knowing dick about controlling their dogs, knowing dog body language and denying that their dog could ever start or finish or jump into a fight.

Second, they're a HAVEN for disease. Regardless of dog park rules, you can NEVER know if everyone has their dogs fully vaccinated, or who's been there. Even with all that, there are diseases and parasites vaccinations and HW preventative don't cover. And even with vaccinations, your dog can STILL pick up bordatella or parvo.

Taking a puppy there is flat out irresponsible. Taking a bully breed there, due to their genetic predisposition to dog aggression and small animal aggression as well as the almost 2 centuries of breeding for dog fighting, makes such an action irresponsible. Taking ANY dog there is irresponsible.

    Read the damn sticky.

your initial complaint should of itself show you why they are not a good idea... what if the bratty unsupervised kid did something to your dog and scared it, and your dog reacted in a bite? it could of been a defense bite, but you know darn well your dog will be to blame no matter what... it is just not worth it... I went to the dog park before, but after a few of my own experiences, and really asking myself if it was really worth the risk, I do not go anymore.. dogs act VERY different when they are in a pack... things your dog usually would not do, they WILL do when in a pack... and right or wrong, the bully will always be the blame... and even if your dog does not start it, it will probably finish it, and because of the amount of damage, even if it was self defense, your dog could be labled as vicious... it just not worth the risk... you can still socialize your dog, just not at a dog park with unknown dogs and people.. Just not worth it, no matter if it is "right" or "wrong"

Your hostility is hysterical! You can never know walking your dog around regular non dog parks if the other dogs they come in contact with if they are vaccinated. I’ve spoken to my vet about the parks and I’ve had nothing but good experiences minus the obnoxious children that are not supervised. I really really enjoy posts from people like you…. The all knowing dog owner…give it a rest! You people love the word “irresponsible”. I have wonderful loving well socialized bully’s that I take on walks in downtown Savannah and to the dog parks! So to bad so sad…lol

Because vets are a great source of info. on dog parks.. Google "Pit Bulls and dog parks". We aren't the only forum or group that doesn't recommend them. There's a reason some of the largest Pit Bull rescues in the country do not recommend dog parks.

I'm with my dog every minute...enjoying the park with them. Guess I'm just lucky and so are the other people that go to this park. Most of the owners are great and so are the dogs. Many of us get together to other events. So sorry but I will enjoy the parks with my dogs and not hide away cause I have a bully and something MIGHT happen...lol Anything can happen and where anytime. Other than the stupid kids that are allowed to go to the park cause there lazy parents dont want to wwathc them they park is a pleasure! :thankUsmiley:[QUOTE=lizzie13;1406895]your initial complaint should of itself show you why they are not a good idea... what if the bratty unsupervised kid did something to your dog and scared it, and your dog reacted in a bite? it could of been a defense bite, but you know darn well your dog will be to blame no matter what... it is just not worth it... You are missing a lot of the point. The reason people here (and any other bully forum) are so "hostile" about this is that what you are doing affects everyone that owns a bully breed. You may not think so, but really step back to consider. Every time a bully breed hurts another animal/person, regardless of whether the bully started it, there is potential for publicity. Every time there is negative publicity towards bully breeds, it's another reason for people who aren't into bullies to use as "proof" of their dangerousness, another push towards BSL, another nail in the coffin.

By going to a dog park, you are setting your dog up for failure. Your dog could be the best behaved dog ever. But you don't know about every other dog there. People DO take aggressive dogs there. If one picks a fight with your dog, yours will almost certainly fight back. If the owner of the other dog tries to intervene and gets bitten, well now your dog is a man-biter too. Bad news all around.

I ask for advise here all the time..I love the site but cant stand the "All knowing dog owners"!!! Enough!!! It's silly. Offering a suggestion and disscussing a topic is great but telling people "read the dame thred" or saying they are a "brat" is childish. There is a way to offer your opinion without being disrespectful. I'm not sure why people need to add insults to get a point across??? We will agree to disagree! I love dog parks and walking my bullys downtown and will continue to do so. Maybe I'm changing the way people think of these dogs? I hear it all the time! How my dogs are so friendly and how most people are afraid of the breed but once they meet my pups they have a changed mind. So as stated I appreciate the opinions but not the rude snarky remarks! As they say...... Opinions are like assholes...everyone has one...:)
