The deer took a spill trying to run out of the way, had it still been on it's feet the car probably would have been a total loss.

Insurance deductible is $700, so I'm going that route. My guess right now is the damage is going to be in the $3500 range depending what parts are available through jobber companies. Fascia, rad support, rad, a/c condenser are all toast. I'll find out tomorrow, luckily I was able to get it in for appraisal quick.

Wow, I didn't think it looked that bad. I guess it doesn't take much nowadays with newer cars.

Well, I was way off. Initial estimate is $4800 (CDN) damage. Insurance company will repair up to 80% of market value. Looking at what's on the market is making me think it could be a flip of a coin whether it ends up written off.

Here's my RANT for today. I have to coach basketball practice tonight. Ya know why? BC my ex that lives in Atlanta 14 hours away signed up to be coach for our daughter. His master plan was to find another parent to run practice and he would drive in every weekend to coach games. (bc that is sooooooo realistic, right?) That's about 28 hours of driving time every weekend, because he is too cheap to pay for flight prices around the holidays.
Of course, I get a call today, like 15 minutes ago that he still hasn't found a coach for the weeknights, could I do it. Practice is at 5. I know nothing about basketball, not my sport. So now, I am googling "basketball rules", moves, plays, anything so I don't embarrass my kid tonight. (I could care less about embarrassing myself)
Wish me luck.

Oh boy. I'm so bad at basketball I would not be able to do that.

If I had more than a half hour to try to get someone, probably could, but he called me at like 3:45. Ugh. This is one of the many reasons things did not work out.

Yep, now I need to go drain some pent up puppy energy. Hopefully she tires easily, because it's been a hell of a day. I think tug ought to do it. She lovesssssssss tug.

Dear Rescues,
Please, please, PLEASE stop adopting out BBM to people without telling those adopters that there is a high propensity for their dog to be animal and dog aggressive. You are doing a disservice to so many when you sugar coat things or fail to mention it all together. And, while you're at it, maybe you could explain that being dog aggressive doesn't make a dog "bad". It also doesn't mean the dog will ever be human aggressive.

How many times do you see bully breeds up for adoption, often young dogs, and they say they are dog friendly. They are only a few months old. Or, you see people asking if they are dog friendly and the rescue says, "yes." It is disappointing and disturbing.

I often wonder if it is pure ignorance on the part of some. Especially rescues that aren't breed specific. It's hard to know about the idiosyncrasies of every breed, but damn, bull breeds are not a rarity in shelters. At least learn yourself something about the popular shelter breeds. And, in some rescues, turnover happens so fast sometimes that it is hard to really evaluate a dog. (which is a whole other rant, in itself)

I know I felt the rescue that had Teddy for one month after we committed to adopting him was irresponsible in what they did not share with us.

After Raven, I said no more rescue dogs while the kids are little. I don't mind a "problem" dog, but it's too hard with kids as young as mine. I'm hoping B doesn't have behavioral issues, but it's a crap shoot because she's not very well bred. She's pretty bomb proof so far, but that could change. Fingers crossed, ya know? Next dog, though, will be a well bred dog. However, at that time, kids will probably be old enough to understand the needs of a rescue, so who knows. And, when kids get older, we can go back to being a multi-dog house. I'm not now because I don't expect my kids to adhere to crate and rotate. It's not right to put that much responsibility on a 5 year old.

Despite that my bitch is great with kids and doesn't react aggressively to anything, even being tripped over, I still separate my (one year old) nephew and dog when I cannot keep 100% attention on them. With the kid on top of being in an upstairs apartment would make rotating dogs difficult, I would be exhausted. Don't think I will do multiple bull breeds until I am in a place where I have and yard and I can do dog runs, if I even decide to do multiple. It's hard when you're the kind of person who thinks about what you want next and about 12 breeds come to mind :P especially when they are breeds like SBT, AST, Presa Canario, AmBulldog, etc... I'd love a pack, but my breed preferences are not suitable for such. Lets just hope when the time comes my husband and I will not be living with my brother and we have a reasonably sized fenced yard.
