And the person we were supposed to pick up just bailed claiming she's sick. Can't say I'm surprised.

Now if bf would just show up... I'm starving!

Friend bailed. Bf ran into an old friend. Then my buddy showed up at his house with his new ff just when we got home.

That last part is worthy of a rant, but the chick fell asleep after getting love rape from the dogs, and bf is nerding down with my buddy so....

I'm just mad our classy pictures are ruined by my flushed red Bourbon face +slouch.

My job is rough on phones. And I murdered 3 phones there. So I told them to get me a lifeproof! Lol

2 weeks afterwards, I found my phone in a hot water bath. I was using an app to repair the mechanics part and make adjustments and the phone fell in. I've also dropped it down a 3 story flight of stairs and it lived. It also spent the night in an aquarium by accident. And went through the washer twice. AND has been in countless buckets of water and also the toilet and hot tub. That $70 case is worth every penny! I also like to kayak. Lol.

I work in an office O_O

I need something that I can drop on concrete and have it still be okay. I don't need something I can chuck off a 3rd story building into a vat of molten lava.

Car is fixed-it was the GD cam sensors. Apparently there are three, one has an exhaust and an intake. Our friend changed two of the three and it didn't work. Nissan told us it was because they were after market so the car wasn't reading them.

Now I'm car shopping :( I hate it. It's so stressful. I've test driven the Sonata, Elantra and the Camry...and sat in the Corolla-way too small. I want to check out a Jetta and an Acord. Maybe an Altima/Maxima. I LOVE the way the Sonata looks. But it's so long in the front-it feels like I'm driving the Cutlass. The Camry was very comfortable for me. They're both about the same as far as bells and whistles.

I'm about 99% sure I'm going to lease. I know the deal-it's pointless, it's like renting....waste of money yada yada. But I really want a nicer car than I can afford. This is how I can do that. I won't go over the miles. I've had my current car (the only car I've ever owned) for 11 years. It has somewhere between 125K and 126K miles on it. I bought it in Oklahoma, drove it to tech school in Mississippi, then to my base in North Dakota...took plenty of weekend trips to Canada and Minnesota...a short week long trip to Washington state (with the world's biggest U-turn thrown in there). Back and forth from ND to OK for major holidays for about 4 years...then drove it down to Florida (which includes a bunch of trips to Gainesville-I live in the Melbourne area-so the dogs could donate blood). Even with all of that-it still has only 125K/126K miles on it. It'll be used for me getting back and forth to work and in and around town. Anytime we go out of town-we'll be using the 4Runner.

I see a car as the worst investment a person can make...so if that's the case I want it to at least make me as happy as it can while I have it.

Thoughts? Preference for cars? Better options than leasing (but still getting a decent car)?

Buy used from a certified dealership. Even if the used car only has 2000 miles on it. Never buy new unless you plan to keep the car for its entire life. The second that new car leaves the lot, it becomes used and the value drops $10k.

My biggest problem with leasing is that you are paying for the maintenance and anything beyond scheduled maintenance yet you still don't own the car and can't do anything to it like tint the windows. Or heaven forbid you tear a seat, something you may be able to live with but will have to pay for when the car is returned.

Also remember that the nicer and newer cars are more expensive to fix. It doesn't really matter how new the car is, it will malfunction and you will have to fix something.

I bought my 2006 Volvo in 2009 with 34k on it. At 39k, I had to get the transmission replaced. That's kind of an extreme example but things happen. Don't buy or lease a car that you can't afford to fix just because it's nicer.

Exactly! Someone who finally gets it! I can't stand customers who come in and cry when their new bmw needs a headlght and they flip when the headlight is 2500..don't have something you can't afford.

On that note I bought an 2007 Jeep Wrangler in 2009 and in 2012 at 65,000 miles... Rod blew through the engine block for no fucking reason (I change my oil religiously). Had to replace the whole engine.
I rather be a little less than happy with the vehicle and buy it used rather than lease it... Or change my mind on what would make me happy
