I bet he will approach it like it is a steak dinner. That is how Tonka was.

Hey, Derek, hopefully she mentioned to add some boneless chicken meat to those necks when feeding them? I can understand the reasoning and starting that way if you choose, but I think just necks would probably be too much bone. Birds don't have a whole lot of meat in their necks.

Agreed. Quarters are better to start with IMO. I have converted 4 to raw. Never had an issue starting with chicken quarters. If anything, their poop all hardened due to percentage of bones in quarters.

She said just for the first day or two the necks then I have 1/4's. all the stuff I've read so far said to start with backs. She said necks have a little more meat then the backs. She liked them better to start with. I thought they looked pretty meaty lol. I bagged up 15 days worth of chicken and turkey. Not consecutive days but my first two weeks are pretty much all set, just need to pick up a few more thing this weekend. Then we'll go from there. Thanks for all the help guys.

i fed mine mince beef, chicken and lamb. they would have lamb shanks twice a week and oily fish twice a week.
plenty of fresh veg and fruit mixed in as well.

I already have it bagged up, maybe I'll start the 1/4's tomorrow and rotate out my necks with 1/4's no big deal.

Mike, why minced instead of on the bone?

because its easier to get, also its easier to mix their veg into. they get bones in the form of lamb shanks and cow knuckles.
they get beef harts as well.

IMG_0435.JPG IMG_0435.JPG He did a much better job chewing it then I thought he was going to. He crunched up every piece before swallowing. Day one a success so far.

He was a little hesitant at first. That 5 mins was 4:25 longer then ever took him to eat before. Lol

I think that is another advantage to raw. They have to work at eating their food.
