    Some truths about amstaffs:

    They are very loving.
    They love car rides.
    They hate thunder storms.
If you let them on the bed once,it belongs to them.
    They never stop being puppies.
They are masters of the art of escape.( and can easily be taught to open doors)
    They love socks.
    They love kids.

These are the kinds of images we as owners and embassadors of the breed need to get across to the public...

Sounds like my APBT, except being scared of thunderstorms and masters of escape....are they known for DA, do they have a high prey drive and energy drive?

My Amstaff isn't afraid of storms, nor is he an escape artist.

Of course like any "Bully" breed, they can be DA and have a high prey drive, although mine is neither. The only prey drive he has is for the lure on the lure course

How many of you all out there also have one (any breed) that loves car rides? Our lab/mix likes them...our St. Benard mix could care less, our APBT would drive the car if he could ;) He is known around town now, at McDonalds, the bank, our beer/wine drive thru.....;)

Im not sure if she likes car rides or walks more...and yes,she would drive if I would let her...she allways asks to...lol...and yes my staffies is also know around town..Not only do I have neighbors come knock on my door to see if my dog can come out and play with their dog, I once had someone come tell me "your dog is out running lose" to which i had to reply "you mean this dog thats asleepn on the couch"...it wasnt my dog but someone elses brendel...but its good to know if she ever did decide to go off on an adventure on her own, that my neighbors would come tell me..

Athena sounds like a neighbor I would love to have! Also...having neighbors that enjoy her is a treasure.

I cant pick up my keys without Trina heading straight for the door! She loves to GO. I think she loves the attention she gets when we go to a drive through too. My bank gives dog treats at the window, and our trips to pet stores ALWAYS means shes going to get the chance to lick a strange or two LOL

I guess in her mind she doesnt realize that we actually go places besides pet friendly places....work??? nahhhh mommy doesnt go to work or she would take me with her. Mommy always takes me to the cool places. My 5 year old grand daughter asked me the first week that we had her "Nana is there a class for Trina at church"? Because we take her everywhere LOL it was toooo funny. I told her no baby I dont think the pastor would appreciate it. She said (real indignantly) Well if he dont like dogs he dont need to be a pastor LOL LOL :rofl2:

Funny how different dogs can be, especially brothers. Both of ours are loving. Domino is the only one that likes to ride in the car while his brother Petey gets car anxiety. Neither care a toot about thunderstorms...but a can full of pennies certainly does stop them in their tracks! Our bed DOES belong to them...at least until it's time to turn out the lights, then they go to their individual pup-caves. The boys are only 9 months old...so I guess if they are puppies forever I can live with it! Absolutely they are the masters of escape, however they just aren't alone long enough to get through anywhere yet, but goodness knows they keep trying! The socks are also theirs. If it falls on the floor it fair game and it is time for tug-of-war. Both love kids! The neighborhood children love my boys and speak to them and want to pet them when we're out walking. At 50 lbs each, I still have work to do with both to keep them from jumping on anyone.

Buddy likes the car but as I don't drive he also like the bus, train and underground as they mean out with mummy going somewhere special like the beach or a doggie holiday.
He is also partial to socks if left unattended, he doesn't give a damn about thunderstorms or fireworks which is a good thing as we have an army firing range opposite where we live.
He is not an escape artist, he loves his home comforts too much (and yes that includes the bed!!) but my neighbours Staffie gets out if they tuen their back for a minute!!

My little girl loves kids, sitting on top of us, she thinks she's a tea cup breed.lol I was told she likes to sit on your lap while driving so I haven't taken her in the car yet. Don't know about thunderstorms? Doesn't try to escape. She adopted us and has been with us only two months but I would kill for her if anyone ever tried to hurt her or take her from me. I don't know how old she is. The vet guessed 4 mo. But she is totally house trained, sits, begs, gives high 5's,shakes,crate trained and is the love of my life at 55 lbs.

Do they all think they are lap dogs? Emma gets highly indignant if she cannot sleep in our laps while we watch tv. 35 pounds at 6 mos.can't wait till she's all grown up! Ouch!
  14. I agree with everything except the escape artist part. With Sophie if you put a small shoebox in front of an open doorway she will look at the box and lay down until the box is moved. Yes she could step over it or push it away, but she just lays down sadly and whines. Callie can open doors with paws or by just barreling through head first...
