: I*m not a high speed shooter as I liked to set my shutter speed at the cusp of freezing the action so that there*s a bit of focus and blurred parts. This makes me a horrible bird photographer. I don*t setup for wild life photography so I*m surprised I even caught these images

The camera could barely autofocus on the white feather of this intermediate egret, autofocus caught on to the contrast of the grass. If I had the time and wasn*t going 20mph on a motorized skiff bouncing off waves, I would have used manual focus. I like the wings on the take off, wish it was facing me.

This is what the typical shot looks like before I enlarge the subjects. Once again bouncing off waves in a motor boat.

Spotted owls. I barely caught the inflight landing through the trees (got lucky again)

    Close up and Photo BLING

    THX Beki & Michele!
I really like the ‘headtilt* too! Here*s my fav as well, wish I could have used a higher f-stop to sharpen up the incoming bird, but it was dark and I was blasting my flash full power.

I always thought saphire was blue. My cousin's wedding ring is saphire and her's has a hint of purple to it. I've never seen it like the pictures above (I would have guessed amethyst).

    It's really very pretty.

Also, I love your photos-you should always post more than you think you should :)

Yeah, I was knocked of my feet too when I found out it was sapphire. They had Rubies that were blueish ultramarine, but once you hold it to the light it turns a deep wine red and when you hold it up to your body heat it turns scarlet red. Truly amazing stuff...and I think the owners of the collection will be crying if their semi-precious turns out to be amythst hehhe. The owner took out some tempered glass and cut it with one of his saphire, no harm was done to the gem.

Thanks DWC and Jamielvsausitin. Part of the delay was that I just got my laptop back from airport security in China…let*s just say that they weren*t too friendly about my cameras and that I was in Beijing when they announced that the Malay airline was lost and all dead. Also, I*m sifting thru over 3000 images, that I just got back thank goodness. Here*s a few parting shot of Myanmar at Inle Lake and then I*ll bring you the few critters I met in China -enjoy

Note..these are actually the pile of images that didn*t make the cut, but you*ll know the ones that are being reprocessed and worked on..I saved the best for last as I really want to share what I saw in Myanmar with y*all, my apologies on the annoying text but my lawyers will not have it any other way ;-D

Alright...I know the title of the original post says Myanmar, but I didn't want to create a new thread for China.
