WOW, thank god Helena's mom didn't have any problems only being 11 mo old at the age of Helena's birth :( And I'm even more glad that I believe in spay/neuter. I would like to some day have a few nice dogs that may produce a few litters but I would have to be totally sure that I could handle it. Or I might just have stud dogs. But even than there would be a lot of learning to do.

plus there are so many pups out there at flea markets in parking lots and on street corners. going for 50 to 100 bucks. and they can't tell you nothing. all mine are fixed. they are pretty and great dogs papers and all. but other than being pretty thet is it. lol no weight pulling or shows so why do it They are great pets. and why help with the over population? I don't wanne see my pupe chewed up at the pound.

This is the best post ever, and everyone that even thinks about breeding their dogs should read it.... not only as a way to make them really think about it, but also, to prepare them for any possible problems that could arise. After reading it though, there's no way I'd want to be responsible for a pregnant dog and her puppies.... I know I'm not educated or prepared enough for some of the complications that are mentioned above.

wow this was very interesting i didn't know some of this stuff.. that is the problem though when it comes to people that see a dog not as a companion but as money and they get way to many pups then they can't sell them because no on wants them it is so sad.

Wow man. I already am against breeding dogs but I didnt know that all that could happen! My lab mix had had two mutt litters, one pup was stillborn but other than that there were no problems. We didnt breed her though she got out and found a mutt. I will be sure to pass this info on to any amatuer breeders that I come across.
