I always taught mine to walk nicely on a flat collar, but as soon as the harness comes out, that means pull like hell on a walk. This way, the kids or my Mom (who has MS) could still walk em, but they never lost that ability to want to pull and get some exercise with hand walking with a harness.

How many miles does everyone hand walk their dogs daily? Ours do about 5-6 everyday BUT... I went got all knocked up so I haven't been able to do all that lately  and I've been having to use a no pull harness all the time :'(:'(:teary: I'm trying to figure out a way to get them adequate exercise and the treadmill does help but Roxy doesn't really like it. Jer goes bonkers on that thing but he's my monster dog so I knew he would love it. Lol... I've just been flirt poling with Rox outside to compensate.

I didn't know you were pregs! Congrats!
I do three miles in the am and three miles in the PM. Plus some training and tug playing throughout the day.
Not with the puppy yet though. We do about a mile in the am and a mile at night. We do a lot of training and tug playing. No spring pole for her just yet, probably in the spring.

Will Roxy fetch? My last one would only fetch once, then it turned into a huge game of keep away. Swimming is good too if you have access to indoor pool in winter and outdoor pool in summer. We don't have access to an indoor pool, but will have access to an outdoor pool this summer. I want to start B swimming. My BFF has an english mastiff and her soon to be ex brother in law (she's divorcing her husband) has a huge heated barn with a pool. She used to take her mastiff all the time to swim. It was great for the dog, because the hydrotherapy was so good for her joints and kept her lean. Since my friend has not taken her dog over there this winter, it has definitely shown in her weight and her physiology.

I'll confess, we rarely walk our dogs. Marshall (10) gets a couple short walks a week, that's about all he can handle. Rosie (12) sometimes goes with him. I'll sometimes take the seniors out one at a time and play ball with them.
Frankie & Rikki do more training work than walks. Agility, obedience type stuff, etc. Then they chase each other ALL THE TIME.
This time of year, on the rare occasion I get off early and it's still daylight and not COLD, I'll put prongs on everyone and take then around the block.

Took the camera out the other day. Thought I nailed this one but it was just a hair out of focus. Iris is just too damn fast. Oh well.

Here's a snow video instead of pictures. We got our worst dump in years. 17", but I think most yards were drifted in over two feet. It ended up being a damn long week, working 12 hours, driving 2.5, and then spending another 2 or 3 hours clearing snow on Monday and Tuesday night. Borrowed a skid steer and spent another 6 hours cleaning up before going in for night shift on Wednesday. Then did another 2 hours yesterday just touching it all up. Just woke up to another 2-3" of fresh stuff. Ugh.

I was initially dreading this snow, but when she tires herself out like this there's really no need for me to take her out for a walk. I especially liked her zoomies at the 50 second mark.
