SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Pit bulls can have a bad reputation but a local organization that saves the breed says it’s undeserved.

Brittany Sniders with Sioux Empire Pit Rescue says many families have adopted pit bulls. She says it's important to match the dog with a forever family so it doesn't come back to Rescue. That's why her group is very thorough about investigating a potential owner.

The Pit Rescue’s 5[SUP]th[/SUP] Annual Poker Run is Saturday, June 14, starting at J and L Harley and ending at the Crow Bar on South Minnesota Avenue. Entry is $25 dollars with money going to food and veterinarian bills.
