What are everyone's thoughts on putting the mausoleum SP? near where the trade centers fell? After I see a few responses I will answer my own question.

i don't know... i have a lot of friends in nyc, like most of you do... that were there as well as in DC during the attacks. i think we all kind of had the same feeling that a memorial is good, but rebuilding with a memorial would be a better icon for the spirit of new york. that's just my opinion though. i'm sure many people would like other things. i just think of strength when i think of ny and all the time i've spent there and to me strength, perseverance and unity is what makes the people that live there and the city itself so unique.

I think people have the right to worship who, what, where, whatever it is they want to worship. I guess legally there's nothing that can be done about the whole thing. Morally or ethically, I think it should be built somewhere else. The people wanting to build it near Ground Zero can push ahead with their plans, but if they're smart and want to preserve the place then they should build elsewhere. It's been 9 years, but I'm not even a New Yorker and the memories are still as yesterday, watching everything unfold. My stepdad always used to say, do you want to be right, or do you want the results? These people pushing for it can be right all they want, but they'd get better results for their place of worship or community center or whatever the fuck it is if they would do the right thing and take it elsewhere. It's just a huge smack in the face to every American if they were to build there, IMHO. But, the argument may be moot, thought I'd heard last there has been such an uproar that they are looking at different sites. Thought it was funny that Obama was backpedaling on the whole thing too.

P.S. Just reread...were we talking mausoleum or mosque? I just saw an M word and went with it. If you meant mausoleum, excuse my blonde moment!!! :o

Who you mean Mosque, Mausoleum, or Museum? Because each has a different response. lol.

I am not so sure about the whole Mausoleum idea. I'd think you'd have to unbury people to place them within it. Unless you mean just building one almost like a chapel, just with the names on it, in memory of those that lost their lives there on that day.

if we're talking about a mosque that's different.... i'm not sure which we are talking about... i am personally not religious nor do i agree with organized religion of any sort, so i see it to be like a claim of stake or a force of beliefs on that hallowed ground to allow any building pertaining to a particular faith to be built there. that's just my opinion. i have a lot of religious friends so i respect everyone's choice and faith, but i think there should be a separation b/t any form of religious faction and Ground Zero... if you're talking about a memorial of sorts then I'm going with my original post.
