My dog has had 2 seizures in the past week. The veterinary hospital was VERY helpful but I never asked them enough about the phenobarbital they gave her. She’s been “stoned” since last night. Wandering around the house and sleeping too much. Does anyone know how long it will be before the medication will build up to the proper level in her system? She’s getting 60mg administered every 12 hrs. She weighs 58 lbs. Any help will be appreciated... she’s been on the med for 3 days.

Sorry, seizures are a complicated thing and it's probably best for a vet to answer your questions. I wouldn't wish this problem on anyone.

Ask him about CBD oils instead of phenobarb. Couldn't hurt and works well for many both human and canine.

I agree with the others. Your vet is your best bet to be asking these questions to.
A friend has an Aussie with seizures. She tracks the frequency of them, as well as the severity. He has been on several different meds trying to come up with the right mix. Until recently, the longest he's gone w/o a seizure is 3 months.
She recently started feeding raw and he has made it past the 3 month mark....so far!
She is researching CBD and may add that in the future.
