Revolution DOESN'T work for fleas.

I'm so upset. Her fleas were under control with Advantage. I took her to the vet from hair loss a month ago and they recommended Revolution in case of mange. They told me I could substitute it for my Advantage because it controls fleas as well. Of course this was after I bought a 6 month supply and was only into the 2nd month. I gave it to my mom who has a dog that needed it more than Lottie seemed to. Especially now that I had a so called better product.
Well today I found 5 fleas on her. They seemed healthy and lively. Needless to say I'm peeved. This stuff was not cheap and now my poor girl is itchy and freshly vacuumed carpet and bedding is probably infested again.
I just wanted to warn others about this "solve multiple pests solution".

:mad::mad::mad:
Anyway. I don't recommend Revolution.

Thank you Bulltlott for sharing this! That sucks so much! My vet recommended it too, I wonder if they get commission on it or something, like science diet... Maybe you can buy that DE that Bullfull recommended for quick killing of the fleas? I just got mine in yesterday, but didn't have time to try it out.

Just found this comparison on a website. It seems that Frontline Plus is the best...

Yup don't get it. They probably do get commission. Ugh. I'm actually considering switching vets. :no2:

I've had nothing but bad luck with Frontline too. Advantage is the only way to go for me! Vecrta 3D also works well.
What exactly is DE?

I don't really know... Somekind of "natural" chemical that is structured like glass and physically kills them instead of chemically. Bullfull would probably know more. What's vecrta 3D?

Here's some quick info on Vectra 3D.

Vectra 3D®

When I adopted her from her previous family this is what she was on. It was prescribed through their vet. I'm not sure if it needs a prescription, but they gave me 2 months worth and wow that stuff worked great. Even after swimming all the time.

I'll PM Bullful later. Unless he sees!

My vet also rec'd that but I read something and after that stopped using it, a lot of peoples dogs had reactions to it iirc. Bella is on frontline plus now and she is doing great and no flea problems.

In my experience, it's kind of a gamble as to what will and won't work. In the past, we used Frontline and Advantage, but both stopped working at some point. I kind of think it has to do with fleas evolving or developing resistance to the chemicals (I have no source for that theory). We use Revolution now, and it works great (knock on wood - flea season is about to kick in).

Matt I totally agree. I think they develop an immunity. I mean think about it, only the fleas that can handle it better will survive and lay more successful eggs. Ugh makes me think of school.

Huckle,
I am going to contact them. This is stupid. It was so expensive.
