There's no way to keep track of that.I was involved with a race car forum ( I walked away and went to the dogs lol.) that went to a similar rating system. It caused some infighting among the big ego's on the board. The purpose of joining a forum is to educate yourself and gain knowledge, between that and your "personal experience" and offer credible advice to others. If you hang around long enough and read the posts, you'll see who's got smarts and who's along for the ride(members see your reply's).To me it don't matter either way, there's no trophy at the end for the highest point total, :champ:just keep doing what your doing.

I see it. I think Tanner might be right. Maybe you have it set to where only Admins/Mods can give rep. points, Vicki?

    BBPITS Good Dog

Now that might be a good idea!.

OK, so delete the post quantity, except for new members who should have a post minimum.

    And, no one day limit?

No, I like seeing post counts.

However, I agree with a rep system based off "liked" posts. That way, we can give out points to those who might not post as often, but have really good info.

Good thought in theory, however I can see *liked* post becoming a popularity contest.

Im on another forum where you can "like" posts...its a non-issue.

So am I (though probably not the same forum), and on that one, it's a popularity contest. So is their anonymous rep system. That particular forum used to be a lot like this one actually, where members could essentially police themselves out in the open. This was the very reason the place wasn't a BYB and furparent fest in the first place.

Now they've done a 180 and all but forced the "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" mentality, where you get red-repped if you dare to imply a novice shouldn't breed that unpapered BYB mess and green-repped if you hold their hand and all but assist them with getting their animals bred, green-repped for writing a sugar coated essay that makes someone feel good about having a vicious animal and red-repped if you suggest the blue juice.

Considering the number of people here who cry that they're being bullied and picked on because they aren't getting their answers along with cotton candy kisses, I'd bet money on the same taking place...

...on the other hand, -9999 seems to be a pretty hearty goal to strive for and I'll be wearing mine as a badge of honor. :lick:

I took a "lurk" over to the other forum, hope that's not the format we are going to follow. You got light bars, stars, rep.names, post counts,it's like being in elem.school lol..I hope by going down this road the value of the forum is not lost in terms of the more knowledgeable members not posting the hard facts that need to be addressed in fear of losing rep. points. You don't want to turn this into a social media site, full of worthless banter (you have FB for that).I think the way it's set up now it works fine, sure maybe a few members can use a bar of soap, but as a whole this is the most informative bulldog forum out there.Like the old saying: If it ain't broke, don't fix it! just my 2 cents.

Eric is on a car forum that has a rep system.. I'll be honest, I think it's silly. It is a popularity contest and the older members tend to gang up on the newer members and negative rep them just because. It's dumb. They have an off topic section and I actually got on and posted under Eric's name once because this guy was trying to sell his intact female Pit Bull (with her UKC papers) to the highest bidder. I told him off and Eric got all kinds of "negative rep" because of it. Whoops.

I like the idea of "liking" posts.

FWIW, I wish we could have at least tried out the rep system for a couple months before it was nixed :(

The "like" post idea might work, it doesn't affect anything, just eliminates the two word replies to threads. If Vicky feels the rep system would be beneficial to the forum,it's her bat and ball.Other than that you can always put it to a vote.
