I have an 8 month old that loves to be walked on a long leader. The problem is she runs as fast as she can to reach the end of it and pulls the person who is walking her down to get loose from them.
We have tried redirection, but she ignores me and my husband. We have used firm commands with her since we got her, but her stubborn streak comes through! Anybody have some reccomendations?

For some dogs, 'Make Like A Tree' works, e.g., dog pulls, you stop moving, until the tension on the lead is relaxed. You move on, if dog pulls, you (aka the tree), stops walking. Rinse and repeat as needed.

Prong collar only if used correctly along with the "make like a tree". Worked great for me!!!

Buy a "gentle lead" collar. Works in days!!!

Great ideas, I will give them all a try. With the make like a tree, should I give it a month or longer, Bella is very stubborn when it comes to pulling.

The more time, the better. She is young and these bully types tend to mature slowly, so patience is a huge asset to have :)

I have also used short leash and "turn around method". Once the dog pulls turn and walk the other way.

The gentle leader worked really well for Tonka too.

I tried that before and it didn't work wel), but I didn't try it for very long. She may respond to it better this time.

Sometimes it takes a while and depending on the dog you can get very dizzy!!! Lol

Myself i like a dog that pulls some but that is personal preference, i know some people probably hate it as they can't really control the dog that well. Also the dog wouldn't get the full length of the lead right away either, i wouldn't give the dog a chance to get a running start lol. Trin and Broly both are good on a leash but i like it when Broly leans in to it hehe

This girl would make a good weight pulling dog! On a short leash, I've seen her on a few occasions spread eagle and almost on the ground digging in lol.

She will buck like a wild horse at first! After the first day every dog I have used it on quit pulling. Let us know how it works.
