If you're referring to Craigslist, they say "rehoming fee" because you aren't allowed to sell animals on Craigslist. The rehoming fee is the loophole to getting their money.
This.
I got two of my dogs off of CL. Piper was $50, Wilson was $200. I'd say $200 is my limit for a "rehoming fee" though.. any higher I think is silly for a dog without papers. And I only paid $200 for Wilson because I completely fell in love and knew he was special.
Any higher than free for a non papered dog off of there is ridiculous
I posted this same exact thing about a week ago and your right. What the hell is a re-homing fee?So what do you all think of these people that charge anywhere from $300 to $500 for a "rehoming fee" why wouldnt you just say "FOR SALE" lol it kinda irratates me.What is your opinion on this???

I paid $100 for Lucy. But she also had her first round of shots, and came with a bag of food, and an insane amount of collars and toys. Considering what a great dog she is, it was worth it.
There's nothing wrong with that if you are trying to home a rescue or foster dog. But,if I were facing eviction (or whatever the circumstance may be) if I didn't get rid of my dog,I would certainly be more concerned about finding him a quality home than I would be about recouping my costs.I ask to recoup what I have invested in said animal.
