Well it depends on what kind of raw you want to feed, how big your dog is/will be, how much your dog requires to maintain, what kind of suppliers you have in your area.

unfortunately, due to economic crisis, fruits and veggies are getting very expensives here in Brazil. Its cheaper to me buy a 15kg (approx. 120 usd) of dog food than raw food.

As soon as I left here (going to Asia) I guess that i will consider raw food.

It varies. I just watch. My store circulars to see what's on sale then I stock up.

Right now, I'm feeding my dogs for nearly free. I go to the local wild game cutter and they give me all the scraps for free. My dogs are eating primarily deer, elk, moose right now. The only thing I have to buy are organ meats and that's a very minimal cost.

This is great. I am stupid shy and don't know how to make these kind of connections. I know I spend soooo much more than I need to just to avoid talking to people!

Plus I love the idea of game, especially deer that are overpopulated in my area, but I am a lefty hipster at a glance, and the guys who shoot deer don't understand that I am on their side as long as they don't leave the carcass and just come home with an antler prize.

Im truly jealous. It costs me 1.65 a pound for chicken backs and necks for Gage, the little dogs whole ground chicken is 2.65 a pound. Their novel proteins range from $4-$8 a pound. I buy half pound patties and chop them up for the little dogs, and mix it in batches. I feed a 2/3 chicken 1/3 novel proteins. My novel protiens vary, right now we have bison, elk, beef, salmon and rabbit. So on average it costs me 10 bucks a day to feed my four, but about 7 or more of that is just feeding Gage.

It just started with a quick phone call. It's illegal for them to sell the scraps and they have to pay for garbage removal, so it's a win-win.

I really broke the ice though when I showed up with my garbage bags and got up to my elbows in deer meat/bones. I was holding this one piece up to my face and tilting it to the side. I scrunched my face up and said, "what is this?" They all started laughing at me and were like, "those were his balls!!" Bahahaha!!!

I should also add that my major goal for this spring/summer is to get my chicken coop and rabbit hutch up and running. The goal is to start raising my own meat for the dogs (and humans). Chickens and rabbits are both very cheap to raise.

Another thing I have done is put ads on Craigslist asking for people's/hunter's last years meat/freezer burnt meat.

Hunter's like to have empty freezers each season and are usually more than happy to unload last years leftovers. Try much prefer the meat going to good use rather than in the trash.
