Raw Diet

Discussion in 'Raw Food Diets' started by AmericanBullySable, Jul 7, 2015.

  1. Hi, I was looking into feeding Sable a raw diet instead of TOTW which she does great on but just wanted something more natural. I wanted to try sticking with a fish based food because she had bad allergies and I know the fish is good for her and helped her out a lot. I only find help online with only giving it to her a couple times a week but I can't find ideas for a daily basis. If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate your input. Thank you. [IMG]

For a balanced raw diet, you'll need to feed more than just fish. You'll need at least 3 different proteins plus liver and at least one other organ. You'll also need to feed bones for calcium.

  3. I just wasn't sure if just fish was possible. I just know the fish has been good for her so wasn't sure about anything else but I guess I'll have to add other types. Thank you for the link!

Often times raw feeders find that the dog that's allergic to heavily processed protein in kibble is perfectly fine with the meats raw counterparts.

I thought raw fish is not recommended?

Raw fish is fine. Wild caught is better that farm raised. Then it should be frozen for at least 3 weeks to kill parasites. Some say you can freeze fish (specifically salmon and trout) from the northwest pacific to kill the rickettsia parasite that causes salmon poisoning, however personally, I'd just avoid it altogether. It's not worth the risk to me.
