i wish i could find other proteins cheaper though! i figure exceptions for the "exotic" proteins is okay since they don't always come up at my grocery store. if i could find them more often for better prices i would definately stock up. like tomorrow i am going to get lamb for 1.59 i am going to fill up my freezer :)

yeah i know that is why i am stocking up! one of my stores regular prices is $3.99/lb and the other store (same store company, different part of town) its $2.99/lb but $1.59 i am soo going to stock up. Peanut loves lamb. i don't like going to this store though but for the price i will brave it :)

I got my $.88/lb fishes.. Pacific Saury. They're super skinny but they're cheap and a good start to introducing new sources when these come out of the freezer in a few weeks ;)

Well the turkey drumsticks and necks used to be about .79lb but the demand went up suddenly so the price went up too.

Lol yea I know.. It's part of what I get for living where I do...

Luckily, the plus side, one of my friends went fishing on Lake Michigan today and got me about 8 small (12-16") salmon that he's going to freeze for me and I'll pick up this weekend.

I pay a little less than that, $29 for a 30lb. case. They're the tom turkey necks.. HUGE. My butcher cuts them in half for me for free :D

wow, that is a great price. I like them way more than chicken backs. They are a meal for my dogs with some organ

Thru my butcher I get them $30 for a 30 lb case. Thru my other supplier I get a 60 lb case for $46

Yup, I've never fed backs, actually. Mine get turkey necks + kidney & an egg twice a week, they love it!

Just a btw - for anyone with Food Lion's near you, call around and ask if they can order in beef hearts! I just ordered a case at $1.39/lb!

ooooo, good idea! I just got a 40lb box of chicken feet for 44.00 not too bad for here. I will as if Food 4 Less has beef hearts too. What would be a good price per lb?

Well, the last place I got the beef hearts at it was $1.59/lb. My regular butcher (where I get my quarters & turkey necks) charges $1.89/lb. So $1.39/lb. is awesome! I guess it'd depend on your area as to what a good price would be though.

I better ask around then, we have a large hispanic population here and they tend to eat the innards so the prices here are more than other places might be.
