Yeah, hunting is sure more fun when you have some buddies with you. But I just couldn't afford to feed raw at all if hunting wasn't part of it!

I've been posting ads every few weeks in my area. I hadn't gotten any response in the past until I modified the text Kady posted and used that for my ad. Going to pick up 25lbs of venison scraps this weekend and luckily it is only a couple miles from my house. I think I need a bigger freezer!

I would do the craigslist thing but I don't really have enough freezer space for a big score. We have a big freezer but it's 1/2 dog food and 1/2 people food.

Managed to score 13 cull bunnies from CL on Monday for $2. I don't currently own dogs but I do snag stuff for my friends that will take it. All hail the mighty CL!

I've seen some great deals for freezers on Craigslist, and there was a time when I could have afforded to buy one, but afford it or not we just don't have the space so I had to pass. When I move out I'd really like to build a barn with electricity and water so I can put a freezer in their specifically for dog food and a cooler specifically for thawing, as well as a sink for water. That's the kind of setup my grandfather had for his Greyhounds, the dogs also had runs connected to the barn with 6 indoor kennels so when it rained or got too hot they could come into the A/C. :)

    /offtopic lol

    Chain grocery store?

Yeah at Compare Foods usually here you don't get good prices like that at grocery stores ;)

I usually figure out what the cheapest cost per pound is for different foods and stop at random stores wherever I'm at and check prices. I refuse to buy anything over the price I get it for bulk. For example, I KNOW I can get chicken quarters for $.99/lb so I refuse to spend more than that for a quarter ever. I know what grocery store sells their prepackaged quarters at that cost too. It's a lot of paying attention to prices everywhere you go.

Yeah I bought that stuff because buying it in bulk is crazy expensive. The only stuff so far that I buy in bulk are chicken quarters for .99/lb Chicken backs for .50/lb and turkey necks .99/lb
Pork ribs I bought in bulk 1.99/lb and chicken will probably be my boneless staple since I get that at .50/lb. I just have to find a good source for boneless beef and pork for now since Hare-Today is freakin expensive.
