I got 10lbs of chicken backs for free. 1 included a full neck, some with partials/halfs.. Most with some different organs, looked like kidneys and livers.

    I'd say that's a pretty good bargain ;)

My butcher also called me last week when he had backs for me.. I'm thinking no one else wants them when he's done cutting up chickens so I take them off his hands for him.. Hope it continues ;)

Thanks. I like him. He has a lot of raw feeders but I guess they're all under the impression that backs are bad because the bones are so small (the other butcher I use told me this). Sucks for them, yay for me!

No idea. I know it's like $4-6 a pound here though. I think the wholesaler has it for like 2/lb

PS Hare-today does whole rabbits liek this
    Hare Today, Gone Tommorow
Thats 20 lbs for 34.99 so it equals out to about 1.74/lb just in case you can't find it anywhere cheaper!

PM - you could try posting on craigslist for meat rabbit breeders, I've found a few that way. I ended up getting estimates of $1.25/lb up to $3.00/lb depending if I wanted them skinned, gutted, and the like. Which reminds me I should look into rabbit breeders again soon...

So, for my shopping I go through the store and make a note in my phone calendar of when meat is going out of date so I can get it marked down. I went back today, and not only did I get what I marked down on sale, but a whole load of other stuff! If I had a bigger freezer I would have bought out a lot more!

Beef tongues $2.15/lb, beef cheek meat $2.09/lb, beef heart $1.39/lb, chicken thighs & drumsticks were probably $0.95/lb I didn't figure it out. Usually I don't like to pay above $2/lb, but beef around here is usually $4 and up! So I gladly scooped up these deals..and Sunday I had gotten a whole chicken for $0.69/lb :)

I love Embers face in that picture! how did you get her to not go thru it and stand there? Peanut would be nose down in all that meat. when i bring his food out of the big freezer into my small inside one i can't get up the stairs without him nosing thru it.
    Awesome deals!

I was shocked she actually did that herself, I laid it all out for the picture and she was instantly sniffing it and trying to pick out some tasty snacks, but then she walked to the outside and stood there waiting like she does when I tell her to wait for her meal - so I think she was assuming I was going to give her the go ahead to chow down afterward :) after the picture she sat and just stared sadly as I put it all way, lol

Lol that its to funny put ember her tummy must have started grumbling seeing all that yummy meat go in the ice box instead of her tummy

Poor gal, haha I did end up giving her a few treats.. I didn't want any hunger vomits, I swear if she sees me bring in meat bags she automatically thinks its her dinner right now. She knows the sound of the freezer/fridge opening now! She can be anywhere in the house and the instant you open one of those, she's running full tilt towards it.. it's hysterical.
