So today I got 10 lbs of chicken breast today for 97cents/lb. I am thinking about cleaning some more freezer space and going back to get more. Usually i get it for about 1.49/lb but 97 cents was just awesome :) too bad i just seen it today and it was the last day of the sale. i don't know how i missed it all week

Must've been a good day for bargains! I got some whole chickens on sale.. can't remember exactly how much they weigh, but they were only $3.50/piece. Got a 20lb. pork ham for $30 as well, so around $1.49/lb, which is a great price.

    that is awesome Kady!!

i wish i could give Peanut beef because i can always find deals on beef but a teeny bit of beef gives him yuck butt.

we need to use this thread as a share your meat deal i know when i find something on sale i know i do an internal happy dance :)

Which store do you usually purchase your raw meats from Peanutsmommy? I purchase my meats and all from whole foods (organic) and they have surprisingly been, offering good deals with organic chicken pieces and I too become overjoyed :D

A local market. Our organic stores usually charge 2.99/lb that can't afford. I would love to do organic if I cold afford it.

It's funny how meats vary by state.. beef is one of the priciest around here. I actually feed Blue Ridge Beef as my beef source; I can get a 30lb. case for $37.50. That sucks that you can't feed it though!

We can always make this a sticky :)

Lamb is the most expensive for myself over here, beef comes afterwards, but I can usually still find good deals for most boneless beef. Whole sardines are a bit pricey as well for me.

How funny that in CA chicken its costly and beef is cheap. Maybe a sticky would be cool.

I love bargains! I'd love this thread to be sticky, my friends just don't understand when I get excited about a big score I got on meat for my dog lol. I was supposed to get a whole ram for $20...but haven't heard back from the lady..I'm pretty disappointed this would have set me up for a few months on meat..and major savings.

omg i could imagine a whole ram!

Joey i can get lamb here for sort of okay prices because we have a few muslim markets here and they carry a lot of lamb the way other markets have beef and chicken. though i have only got him lamb a few times he does pretty well on it though.

i have yet to get cases (though honestly i don't have room if i did) but i check my market circulars all the time to see who has what on sale.

Good news, the ram is on for tomorrow! I'm going to be stocked up for quite awhile, live weight this guy is around 200lbs.. hopefully the dogs like it, if not.. well tough sh*t.. lol

Most of my deals are found by going to my grocery store, noting what's on sale, and noting the dates on items.. then I come back to pick them up when they are on their sell by date, my store marks them down. I haven't found any cases that are worth the money, or any co-ops/online stores that gas/shipping prices didn't make too expensive.

Also, make connections with the local farmers (if you have any).. I've met a few through craigslist and have gotten grass fed beef tongue/heart/organs for $1.50/lb.. just ask for the "off" cuts that most other people don't want.

that is awesome news! you need to send us pictures of what you get :)

i do have a butcher that i found back in october but i haven't seen their prices yet. they are the farmer/butcher and they deliver they do both human and animal foods but all the same quality. i REALLY want to contact them for prices and try their stuff out. they even carry some exotic meats for our area like venision...i been wanting some though for myself

K it's a sticky now! So this can be where everyone can post up the good deals they find :) If you can post your city/state and where you got it (if it was from a store), that'd be helpful as well!

    awesome!

okay my favorite store's ad came out today :) i was just there yesterday and i seend they had 10 lbs of chicken quaters for 75 cents/lb i was going to get it but i wasn't sure how much room i had so i put it back.....glad i did. in their ad today the same 10 lbs of chicken quarters is 47 cents/lb i am soooo going to pick up 20 lbs tomorrow :)

There ya go! I love it when quarters go on sale for that cheap.. it usually only happens in the warmer months around here though, since so many people are doing BBQ's and stuff.

i am so excited :) i can't wait to go :) they have cornish game hens for $1.47 not sure if that is good price. (if i get him one of those he can eat it until its gone right?)

it is always bbq weather here :) the only thing that is never on sale is wings. i think because people bbq year round here is why beef is always on sale.

Ack, that's a great price for cornish hens! Stock up on them. And yeah, just give him one whole and see what he does.. might really help with his gulping. They usually weigh around 1.5lbs., which I know for my guys would be enough for the entire day (so you'd just feed once).

Well we got the ram done, he ended up not having that much meat but I'll take a picture of my freezer once It's all deboned. Still worth the small amount I paid :)

I second the $1.47/lb for cornish game hens is a good deal! The ones here are $1.99-2.49/lb. That's a great deal on quarters too, in Wegmans, State College PA quarters are always available for $0.49/lb and pork shoulder for $1.29/lb
