Hello All, this picture was received from the international bull terrier forum and I think he is very pretty boy. My question is, what is your guys's rating of this boy, how is his 'substance' or bone. Thanks!

Not a Bull terrier person and pictures can be deceiving but looks healthy and he appears to be solid and strong

His hind legs are stretched WAY back, making him look like he has atrocious angulation. I'd like to see him stacked with his hocks perpendicular to the ground.

incidentally....as regards the " bone and substance ".....

maybe you should ask johnnybegood.....he can visually xray a dog from the outside with the naked eye apparently ;).....

i wonder johnny,is that talent only reserved for dogs or can you tell the quality of human bone as well ? or maybe dog bones contain something human bones dont.......why do hospitals bother spending millions on xray machines when we have hawk eye johnny in our midst !

i believe the dog is standing in the classic " show " stance......

No way! Really? I just looked up a photo of Rufus from Westminster, he was stacked with his hocks perpendicular to the ground. My guess would be that the dog pictured in the thread has poor angulation anyway, but I don't want to judge without a proper stack... but BT's don't have stellar rear angulation anyway.

I am not sure on proper show stance for the Bull terrier but I know I have seen alot standing like the dog in the picture in shows I have also seen some standing more perpendicular

I still think the dog looks healthy and strong in that photo but photos can deceive

sorry not interested in rating a dog without the owners invitation to do so, ..however I will say that schwe is correct that the dog should be stacked with his hocks perpendicular to the ground...

Agree with you.. his front are not directly under him either.
Some folks over extend their dogs when stacking them to bring down a high rear. However the high rear can usually be observed as soon as the dog moves out.

He is a nice dog however his handler should have stacked him better.
A dog that is structually correct will usually walk right into a perfect stack on his own...four square.

Rufus' free stack in the BIS ring at Westminster would be a perfect example. IM not so HO.

I believe that she said Besides the head, as in other than the head, aka, her dog's body excluding the head, is the same as the dog pictured at the beginning of this thread. ;)

Perhaps we can get Danielle to properly stack her dog for a good photo. Then we might be able to compare the headless body.

Yea I will try to stack him, that picture was just of him standing naturally.

What are you looking for when looking at him?? Are you looking to show him? I don't think he has what it takes. Are you looking to breed him? He might be able to produce something worth looking at if you have the right female.
What is the answer that you are looking for here??

No, hes not a show dog, hes a working dog. I was just interested in his bone shape being similar to the dog in the picture.

Bone structure wise, he could probably handel some weight.
What are you going to work with him on?? Is he gonna go hoggin??
JK, but IMO I like the dog in the first picture better. Your guy looks fine though! He looks healthy. Could probably use losing a few pounds and adding some more muscle. His back end is small.
IMO, he is a perfect pet!
