having my friend 15 1/2 years, over the last 6 months her health started to decline. it has been very weird not having a doggy in my house. i truly believe with her passing, her vet making it as calm and peaceful as it could be, this is is her way of telling me we need to open up our home to another friend. we are adopting a 3y/o deaf pittie next week, she has pups and when they get the all clear, we hope to have her as part of our family. i still miss my doggie, but as we started a new family, this will be our dog.

thanks for eating all of my cd's, causing me to loose my security deposit on our first place, and killing 2lbs of jerky that time. thanks for breaking 4 kitchen gates, and chewing the carpet in our first house. thanks for waking me up on saturday mornings with your cold ass nose when you needed to go out. thanks for letting lilah pretty much do whatever she wants with you, thanks for putting a smile on the kids faces and thanks for posting up in the hall way every night to keep us safe.
thanks for barking at frank the mail man, even though he lived with us and you knew who he was.
i just hope i was a good enough daddy for you. this last day was very hard and i wont get into as to why. i hope you can find Ebony (ebony was our black lab we had while she was a pup) when you get to where ever you are going.
if i had this to do all over again, i wouldnt change it.
thanks for being my knuckle head.
    i love you regal.

I'm so sorry, it's so hard to lose them. What a lovely tribute to your friend it was very touching. I'd gladly go through all the chewed and destroyed things if I could have any of my babies back.

I'm sorry, sounds like she was a great friend. And it's lovely that you're opening your home to a dog in need in light of her leaving.

The thing I always like to try to keep in mind, and remind others of, is that while our time with them, it is never enough, but they teach us how to love, how to open our hearts and love again... and in the end, even though we think we could never love again, we eventually find that we can, and do, find a spot in our heart that needs filling, and in time, we find just the right one to fill it. I like to think that the dogs that have left us, have sent us a new friend to love, because they know us best and know what we need, so they send us just the right one, at just the right time.

Thank you for sharing your love of Regal with us. Our hearts go out to you, because most of us have been there, and we know that pain... but eventually, the clouds will fade and the sun will shine, and you will smile again... even if it is through a few tears.

RIP Regal, wait patiently, one day you will be reunited with your human. Until then, there's a ton of butterflies waiting to be chased.
