Pitties, Pibbles, and Nicknames... Oh my!

Pitties is a phrase I use when I'm referring to all 'pit bull' type dogs.

Pibbles drives me up a wall, I don't like that one at all.

Pit, that one is a whatever to me. I feel like most people use it to avoid having to write/say the 'bull'.

Pitt, Pittbull, Pitbull, bully pit(t), those are all idiot 'I didn't know what breed i own, I was just told by someone he looks like that so I'm trying to write it out' terms to me.

And Brindle Mania! Those puppies are adorable!

I'm not fond of Pit.That's your underarm or the middle of a fruit or more specifically in this case, where matching occurs.I find Pit Bull acceptable when referencing the APBT and this breed only.

Pibble is often used by bleeding hearts,to soften the breeds image.I find no need to sugarcoat.Know the breed, own it responsibly and there is no reason to hide its history or traits some find undesirable.I think terms like this contribute to naivete or denial.

I agree. Although I will occasionally use the word Pit when I am in a hurry.

Pibble annoys me the most. Every time I hear it I get a mental image of someone trying to say Pit Bull with a penis in their mouth.

MJJEAN if that doesn't cure people (of either sex) saying that nothing will. God that is funny. If someone says that to me, I know what I will flash on. LMAO.

I've never actually ever had anyone say "Pibble" to me in real life...but if they do...you have just brought it to a whole new level !

I used these terms "pibble" and "pittie" a ton when I was naively fresh faced about the breed and more of a furmommy type. This was before I got schooled though. I do find pittie less objectionable than pibble. Reminds me of the bleeding heart no kill types who either adopt out dogs with known temperament problems or just warehouse them for Tue rest of their life. I do call Lemmy an idiot and a stinkhead sometimes, but its out of love lol. Our AmBulldog Murphy thought his name was Buddy. He answered to both. I do call Labrador retrievers labs, and I have one. I don't mind the use of Rottie or dobie either.

Bulldogs are not "cute"... They are roguishly handsome, so there... Lol. And I think of all the nicknames AND the term "pit bull", to not be APBT, I am voting for changing our dogs' breed name again, like was done in the last century.

I have no qualms about "pittie" but pibble is just silly. Staffy is also alright to me.

When out in public and someone asks me what my dog is I just say all his breeds (yes he's a mutt, but he's an interesting mix mut), "pit bull" being one of them. Never pit, pitty, etc. online a lot I'll type pit.... Call me a fur mom if you want but I do call my puppy a pibble when it's just us...
