  1. Then if your arguing that, an Apbt in the US is no Different that APBTs used for dog fighting overseas then your arguement against the AST being a different breed is invalid. Because you all said its a different dog because a its ment for a different purpose as a Apbt yet, US Apbt not used for dog fighting would be the same as ones bred for fighting overseas?

....that doesn't make a lick of sense whatsoever

The Newfoundland region of Canada has a completely different climate than most of the continental US, yet there are working Newfoundlands throughout the country doing what they were bred to do. Do you participate in any sporting or working venues with your dogs?
  4. Sorry the point Im trying to make is, You guys argued that apbt are completely different from AST because of their purpose.

Im trying to say that If people if some third world country has purebred APBTs and bred them to fight over time they would be a completely different dog because of the environment they are in and that they are bred to fight which the modern apbt is not bred to do.

So your arguing that a Apbt in a different country doing a serving a different purpose that a Apbt in the US, is still the same dog

While you guys are arguing that a dog which was the same dog, the AST but is used for a different yet similar purpose to the Apbt is a different dog, I don't see how that makes any sense.

... and it may not ever make any sense to you sadly. Why, because you have "facts" all made/mixed up and you have no respect for breed or even bloodline integrity. So yes, your point of view is quite understandable.

Because they are. One of the main differences between similar looking breeds is intended purpose. Then the breed was separated further due to the closed studbook, creating an even smaller pool of available dogs. They didn't start out a different breed, no. But they finished that way
And that's still dumb as hell

First of all, no. The original main purpose of the breed was fighting. So how would a breed of dog doing what it's bred for make it less of the same breed of dog? That's like saying a Doberman out of Germany not guarding tax men stopped being a Doberman because it does Search and Rescue instead.
The AST was developed for confirmation, and separated further because of the AKC's practices. If you have a problem with that, then you should go talk to the AKC about it

I'm sorry but, what? I stated that the Newfoundland, a dog that originated in the Newfoundland region of Canada and bred for water retrievals in all water conditions as well as drafting. The breed performs these duties, to this day, in completely different environments than Newfoundland, such as the south-eastern US. My point? Environment does not determines a dog's ability to perform its task.

Yep. An APBT which has parents, grandparents, etc that are APBTs IS an APBT.

Well, a registry does have a specific BREED NAME for the pedigrees it documents, right? I mean if, as you state above, the breed is determined by parents/ grandparents etc and the registry documents those particular names under a BREED name, then the dog IS that breed, right?

The dog did change. All breeds within closed registries DO. But historical writings DO prove this was NOT the original intention.

I agree. The Staf club tried desperately to get that name, but the well-entrenched Bull Terrier Club of America would not allow it. The Staf club was FURIOUS when the Staffordshire BULL TERRIER was recognized by AKC and got to keep IT's name! Also, UKC Bloodlines up to the 60s used that name almost exclusively in articles and advertisers used it as well.

There has been some talk about this....a Border Collie bred/proven for agility would have a different breed name, one bred for obedience would have a different name, etc....I dunno, kind of awkward, but maybe...a German Shepherd bred for police work could have a different name than one bred for Schutzhund etc...a Lab bred for guide dog work would be a different breed, etc....I can see where this is kind of awkward, though....most people in dogs do GET the idea that one breed can do many different things with the breed ORIGINALLY doing such-and-such and that they ARE different "strains", and while those dogs are different, the idea of giving each purpose-bred dog a different breed name hasn't caught on. But people understand I think.
