Do you know the history of breed specific legislation in Canada? Battles have been fought, wars have been waged, thousands of dogs have been euthanized because of people with your attitude, people that think it's fine to just let their dog get in fights with other dogs, to fail their dog because they were too lazy to find a new solution, to paint the breed in a bad light because it benefited you at the time.

Unbelievable. Your actions affect us all, even those of us 'in the states'.

How in the hell do you figure I want my dog to fight other dog's??? I take the time everyday to take him to the park so he can be off leash and have freedom for 30 minutes out of the day, I'm a real monster. I have most book's on pitbulls and am aware of there history and have also took pitbull training courses with him earlier on. He sets a positive example everyday! Where do you walk your dog off leash?

Yet you continue to put him in situations to get into altercations with other dogs for 30 mins of "freedom". One fight with the wrong dog and he could lose not only his "freedom" but his life. Take the advice you were seeking.

What is missing from my post cuz I can't seem to edit it is he is he was leashed when it happened and I was pulling him away from the attacking dog so now the dog's on his back biting him cuz I'm pulling him away on a leash. All I did was let the tension off so he can defend himself until the dog got off his back, then continued to move away, that guys dog ran up to us and started fighting with my dog and I'm the fucking monster give your head a shake lady!

I definitely don't think s/he's trying to make a bad name for pit bulls. For what it's worth, most pit bull owners DON'T know it's not a good idea to take them to dog parks. Trust me, I know a lot of people who were like "oh really?" when I explained it to them. The key is educating people in a helpful manner, by explaining things and being kind, instead of being rude in an explanation.

I understand it's frustrating explaining the same thing over and over to different people, but remember they ARE different people. It's not the same person asking the same questions over and over.

I understand the dog parks (for the most part) are larger with less dogs here. I still think they aren't a good idea, due to the fact that we, as pit bull owners are responsible for our dogs reputations. Right now they have such a horrible one, it's even more important that we prove the general population wrong about our breed. Any little slip up, even if it's not your dogs fault, looks doubly bad. It looks bad for the breed and it looks bad for all of the owners as well. It's sort of an "unwritten" rule, of responsible pit bull ownership that you not take them to dog parks.

Pit bulls and their owners are under a microscope right now and anytime something (even small) goes wrong, it looks massive in the eyes of the naysayers.

I've had him in a city for over 6 years now with no real problems, in a province where these dog's are illegal and looked down apon, but we change the minds of people everyday about these dog's except for the few morons that are just to inbred to reach. Thanks for the warm welcome and insults I'll cherish it always! Great Sight :D

Oh boy...so you keep your dog where you live illegally? I am done. You have a beautiful dog! Good luck finding the advice you are willing to take.

If they live in Ontario, people's current dogs were grandfathered. So they can can keep their existing dogs but can't get any new ones. If they rehome their pit, it must be rehomed outside of the province.

Most places in Canada that adopted BSL, included a grandfather clause in the legislation. As long as the owners comply with regulations set forth, it's all good :)

The parks I go to are not just dog parks there kind of a mix, there is an off leash area that is not fenced in and a leashed area but everybody lets there dogs off leash everywhere in the park for the most part. Again this is not a fenced in off leash play area, to walk around this park is something like 6.5 kilometers. It takes me almost 2 hours to walk the whole thing. The other park we go to is more like 45 kilometers around and is a provincal park so no fenced in dog parks here that I'm mentioning.

The one park we go to is in the city yes, I have to be careful when I go there but at the same time he is the most well behaved dog in that park!
He is not this vicious dog you think he is.

Good way to assume shit. Did i say anything about vicious?

You are obviously to blunt to understand the moral of this thread.

How stupid would say a kid is if he puts his hand on a stove and gets burnt? Not stupid right? But what if, said kid kept doing it? Not just twice but 3 times? Pretty stupid huh? YOU ARE THAT SECOND KID. First of all, you live in a province with BSL. The public is just waiting for you to fuck up, so they can see your little friend get put to sleep. Think it won't happen? Well you better wake up Alice. You're not in Kansas anymore.

Secondly, it has happened more then once. Does he need to die before you get it through your thick ass skull that it's not a good idea to take him to ANY place where it's possible to have a dog on dog issue? Park or not!!!! Hello!!!!

We can only say it nice in so many ways.

It happens all the fucking time. Peoples dogs get taken for no reason. You live in a province that has a radar out for these dogs and you keep putting the dog in danger of euthanasia. Good fucking job

How about you stop typing insults back and fourth?

I could just go through and delete a bunch of posts, but I'll leave them here for now.

It still baffles me when people come to this thread looking for "advice", claiming that they're totally fine in going to the dog park, expecting anything different to be said than what's already been written in over 100 pages, then getting angry when nobody says "Well actually, you seem to be the exception to every rule, so here's my blessing! I think it'a a great idea to take your pit bull to a dog park!"

Everyone thinks they and their dog are the exceptions.

Bodi, was your dog grandfathered in, or are you keeping him illegally? If he is indeed illegal, why would you EVER put yourself in this situation?

Plus i feel so damn good about myself after reading how you put your dogs safety at risk and i don't. ;)
