[h=1]I'm just glad Yachiru doesn't need to be groomed by these morons. You know, I've never understood the trust people have in groomers--especially cutting the quick. OUCH

Kaneohe Petco is accused of mutilating 2 dogs during grooming[/h]

Two dog owners are suing the Petco Kaneohe store for allegedly mutilating their pets after the owners dropped off their dogs for grooming last summer.
According to a lawsuit filed in state court today, Gladys Kapuwai, owner of one dog, claims Petco cut off the bottoms of her dog's ears then tried to cover it up by reattaching the bottoms with tape.
"Within a matter of weeks, parts of the ears fall off on the floor. And when she took the ear to the vet, the vet, she looked at the ears under some microscope or magnifying device, and saw there was tape on the ears," said Michael Green, the lawyer representing both dog owners.
The owner of the second dog is Green's wife, Estelle. She claims Petco returned her pet bleeding from the tail because the tip had been cut off. She also claims the dog's toes were bleeding because the nails had been cut too short, its eyelashes and whiskers were cut and it was filthy.
Petco employees said the store manager was not available Monday for comment about the lawsuit.

i would blame petco not all dog groomers are like that many of them choose a career workign with dogs ebcuase they love them.
petco should have been more responsable about who they choose to hire becuase obviously that person who did that either
didnt have enough grooming skills OR had a drinking/drug problem!
or they just didnt like dogs which is a bad job choice to begin with but petco SHOULD have taken more tiem interviewing and choosing whom to hire.

And this why over the last 10 years I have successfully learned how to groom my own dogs... all of them. My favorites to groom where my Pom and now my Yorkie. I do EVERYTHING myself. Nails, inside the ears, I tip off Maci's ears, shave, trim, body/face/paws/pawpads/tail/belly, teeth, and I'd do glands if I had to. NO ONE is about to mess up my dogs after I've worked so hard to make them look so good haha!

Look, accidents happen. Especially when you're working with a living, moving animal that has a mind of it's own. You can be careful all you want, but sometimes shit happens. However in a situation like that, you should seek medical attention for the dog and own up to it.

As for the nails, sometimes you have to hit the quick. Or the nails are cut close enough to the quick that walking the dog outside causes them to bleed.

However, Petco's grooming whatever's have a really bad reputation anyways, so shit like this isn't surprising. And incidents like this aren't going to stop people from having their animals groomed there ("It's a big ass pet store, of course they know about handling dogs and grooming!")

I saw this and laughed! If anybody out there has EVER had a dog with a cut or nicked ear from ANYTHING (like hunting, playing, fighting, sticking a head down a hole etc...)you know how freaking bad it bleeds. And then once you have it stopped the dog shakes it's head and it bleeds all over every thing again! You CAN NOT attach a cut off bottom to a ear with tape and send the dog home only to have parts fall off ~weeks~ later!! WTF??! This is NOT doable!

Something here is very stinky with the smell of stupid humans....

And the part about trimmed off eyelashes and whiskers? They didn't say what breed of dog that was but with lots of breeds you do that. Show dogs do that! WTF?

The nail thing is just F-ing stupid. It all depends. Some nails are super long with long quick's and can bleed easily. Some nails don't bleed at the shop but might bleed if the people take the dog home and jog it down the road. If we bleed a nail, we tell the people and send "qwick stop" home with them. I would rather take a nail a bit short then leave it too long. That's way worse on a dogs foot...

    Now the tail part...
    This could happen BUT:
In all, ALL professions you have the good and the bad. Do your home work and research you lazy F*cks!
Accidents can happen. But if something happens and you cause it you fess up and do whats right.
I'm a groomer. Over the 20+ years I've groomed I have cut dogs by *accident*, maybe 5 all told. I groom around 5-8 dogs a day, 6 to 7 days a week, I don't take lots of time off, so that means I have groomed hundreds of dogs. I do dogs nobody else will do, dogs that NEED to be groomed or suffer health problems(as in matted coats). People come to me and my shop because we love dogs and they can trust us. If you cut or hurt a dog, you call the people and then drive the dog to the vets~right then and there~ AND you pay for the treatment. AND you don't charge for the groom! The 5 dogs I have cut, I still groom.

Yes there are stupid groomers. And there are stupid owners.
But something in this "article" is not on the up and up...
