A friend in New Jersey is rescuing a pit mix from California and was told that due to the breed that she would need to bring out a specific CR82 crate with her to transport the pup back to NJ. After some research she realized that these crates are very expensive, like $700-1000. Would anyone happen to know if there is a place she could borrow/rent one for this one time trip?

    Is the dog being flown?

If not, I would think the largest Vari Sky Kennel, which is about $279, would be sufficient? However, I paid for transport from Calif. to Arizona and it was about $200-250

Yes. My friend is planing on flying out there to pick up and fly back. She was instructed, by the airline, that she needed this CR82 crate.

wow!! Must be one special pup!! Has she already met the dog and knows the connection and so forth? I heard that flying regulations have become much more strict recently and have never heard of this type crate.. but by the sound of it, it should be as secure as Fort Knox!!

Good for her for making this happen.. Keep us posted!

I thought airlines will not fly flat nosed breeds?

If the airline was told it's a pit bull mix, yes, many require the special crate.

And as a breed, they are not "flat-nosed", but as usual, misinformation about them is everywhere. Don't know if all airlines consider them as such.

Flying anything "pit" is a pain in the ass.

Does anyone happen to know of any dog rescue groups in the tristate are that do fly them? I contacted one group, Bully Breed Rescue, but they don’t fly them.
