    "Other" Bully Breed Question

I was unsure where to post this question but I was wondering: is the Boxer considered a "Bully Breed" as they were originaly used for bull/bear/boar baiting? Or does the breed have to have the word BULL in the name to be considered a bully breed? Just wondering!

I would consider a boxer a bully breed, but I don't know if that is correct, but I call rotts a bully breed also, and the am staff..etc...

I have the habit of calling any breed that is mistaken as a "pit bull" a bully breed. So I do consider Boxer a bully breed cause basically everybody I know wouldn't know the difference from a boxer mix or a "pit" mix. I do not know what the official "Bully Breeds" are though...

I have a Boxer and an APBT and people are always mistaking my Boxer for an APBT and asking if Hachi (my APBT) is a "boxer mix"!

LOL, sorry but that must get irritating! We have to forgive people their ignorance at times though.

In reality .....I do believe that Boxers were bred from English bulldogs and something else ... (I cannot remember) but i still do not think that they are considered "of the bully breed" I could be wrong....but.....
Boxers are part of the Molosser group and if I am not mistaken, the majority are not bully breeds....

    BUT

These days, anything that does not resemble a poodle is a "PIT BULL" of the bully breed....so WTF....

    ***feel free to correct me****

Any dog breed containing the blood of the original bulldog is considered a "bully breed."

However, Rotties are a molassar breed (mastiff), not a bully breed. ;)

    No problem! :)

I'm such a research nerd, book nerd, but most of all, dog nerd and the fact that I'm drawn to both bully breeds and moloss breeds means I've done a lot of research into them. I'm definitely no expert, but I like to have my bases covered. ;)
