yeah, the ones I mostly see are stuffy, stocky, too heavy with "froggy" looking heads. They don't seem to have the leg and length of muzzle the older dogs do. They DID lower the heights from 15" - 18" to 14" -16", but didn't change the weights! That's quite a different dog!

It's happening in Am Staffs too - the stocky, heavy, over-boned, over-muscled, over substanced, short-muzzled dogs are deemed to be "impressive".

Yes the APBT is banned along with the Japanese Tosa, Fila Brasileiro and the Dogo Argentino. Also any cross breed dogs with the same physical characteristics of these banned breeds.

So I guess the Amstaff would be considered a banned breed too as it looks much like the APBT only stockier. If you ask me it's pretty damn crazy and I don't know how they would enforce it.

i was just wondering because i think it could contribute to people calling their apbt/amstaff sbt or breeding the two together and also when something becomes banned there are those that will want it even more so maybe that has something to do with things. my old girl Nibs was an apbt x sbt.she was a very nice girl

i just remember seeing a post on here from someone in Australia asking if he should just sell his "pit bull puppies" as staffy's due to bsl

Ya.... I've already talked to some people online from else where that have apbt's but call them "Irish Staffs" as the Irish lines tend to be more "pit bull" looking than the show staffies.

Ya.. I think they are alot rarer now, but I talked to a guy who said they still do have them but mostly people have them as pets. I think the majority of badger hunting went on earlier in their history. I talked to another guy who has one working as a sheep herding dog! lol

I've heard of Staffy's doing work with the sheep in Austrailia. They don't have the same job as a border collie, I think it's in the stockyard. When I was doing herding with my Malinois I took Hobbs out there but he was just a wee pup and very tiny (4 mos). They wanted him to do the herding instinct test but I was worried about him getting hurt and besides all he was interested in was eating all the sheep poop!

There's been a tremendous amount of controversy between SBT and Irish Staffy owners. The Irish Staffy people claim that this breed is what the original SBT looked like. There's been many heated discussions on the forums to where members have been banned. :(

I believe badger hunting is now illegal in the UK. Unless it's just killing the badger that is illegal. It was in the Patterdale book. Anyone know for sure?

I'll try and find out from some British people I know on another forum. :)

The guy I talked to about badger hunts is actually from Sweden. I don't know if he personally knows of any, or just that the breed has been used for that. It was tricky talking to him because he doens't really speak English, although he's alot better than I am at Swiss! lol

Ya... there definitely seems to be and it's not being helped by the fact that people are calling their APBT's Irish Staffs due to BSL. I'm really hoping people can keep it mature and civil, discussions of that sort, cause I'd hate to be banning people who might be able to teach me more about the breed! lol

the bsl is enforced by the authorities using the magic word "type" ie pit bull type dog. im sure you will agree this can be twisted and used anyway they want.apbt ast etc are banned but you do still see them knocking about occasionally, and i must admit i do get slightly nervous if i walk my sbt on the road as he is quite big for his age, and i have been asked by clueless people if he is a apbt, it would only take one of these to report me for a whole load of nonsense to begin, the dog can be removed until the case goes to court where you have to prove he is not pit bull type, this can drag on for months and on the few times dog owners have won the case the dog has been returned to them in poor condition. as usual it is bad owners causing problems for the responsible ones

You know, the exact same thing is going on in Ontario, Canada. Instead of ''pit bull type'' they used the words ''substantially similar'' to APBT, AST or SBT. So you could even have an American Bulldog x Ridgeback but if someone mistakes it for any of those three breeds, and it's not following the law (muzzle, spay/neuter, leash, etc...) as some are grandfathered in, there goes your dog! A truely sad state of affairs!

the problem is that certain people see them as a trophy of how tough they are and will torment the dog until it is a raving lunatic, it is these that
