Friday was a bad day. I've been through a lot lately with the birth of my youngest son and bills piling up. It didn't help that my wife was out of work for 3 months and we were down to just my income. During that time, my secondary job had no hours for me and I fell into debt. I get a call from the bank and they tell me that if I don't catch up with at least 1 payment by Monday, they're going ahead with forclosure. I empty my account to settle up and almost immediately after, my wife calls from work because her car just got repossesed! Had to borrow money and now I'm back to working 70-80 hrs/week for the next few months until I get right. Saturday I'm at the park with my kids and Mickey and a lady actually said to me, "how can you own a dog like that when you have children?" On occasions like that I usually take the opportunity to inform the uninformed and tell them a little about the breed. On this day my stress was at it's breaking point. I'm at the park with my kids for the last time in while because I bust ass to provide for my family, and this lady is calling into question my parenting! My response was, "Shut the fuck up bitch. You don't have any idea what you're talking about!" I feel bad, and I feel that I just reinforced what her pre-conceived notions were. Thanks for listening to me rant. Would anyone have done it differently?

After the day/weeks you had, I would have done the same thing. Who does she think she is to question your judgement/character. It says a lot about her to judge a breed or people just by looking on from the sidelines. Hopefully everything will work out with you and your family

I would of done it different. The breed gets enough of a bad rap. When the owners start flipping out at remarks and comments that ignorant people make, it solidifies their comment.

Be cordial, be nice, be respectful. That don't cost anything and it puts you and the breed in a good light.

While it DOES look bad, you're a human. It's what we all think on the inside when someone comes up and says we are bad people and parents based on their ignorant judgement.

And though you should have turned away, taken a deep breath and walked off or told her why she was wrong, you didn't and it's done.

    I'm sorry you're having a rough time.

If I'd had a week like yours, I probably would've punched her.

No one has said anything that rude to me yet, but when they do I plan to ask them to please pet my dog and see how sweet and loving he is, most people melt when they touch him.

Hope everything works out for you and yours, and soon!

Was it the best response? No, but you're aware of that.

Was it understandable? Completely. Build up enough triggers over a long enough period of time and everyone will lose their shit eventually.

I totally understand a reaction like that. No judgement here.

I recognize the error in judgement, but I couldn't help it. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes.

I totally get it and I think I would have done the same, after that stressful time you have been having its just the last straw and I must say you were better than I think I would have been.
