I am staying home and drinking my final bottle of wine before I start my cleanse and I get back on my strict diet in 2018. Thinking I may rent a movie and snuggle with the kiddos and the beasties.
My middle daughter has a sleepover party that night, I'm kinda worried she wont make it through the night, but her dad is in town, so he can always go pick her up!

Probably just be hanging out at home this year. With the weather the way it is, people already can't drive, add alcohol to the mix and it's a recipe for disaster.

Hanging out at home. Wine, food and company. It's supposed to be 8 degrees with winds tonight. Inside is where I will be.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one deciding to stay home.
I rented the movie Split for tonight after the kids fall asleep. It's that one where James McAvoy plays a kidnapper with different personalities. Hoping it's good.

We are grilling a bacon wrapped fight mignon and making garlic fries and a Maggianos salad. Then we are watching a movie. Right now we are baking some more gluten free chocolate thumbprint almond cookies.

Hubby and I actually went to a bar Friday night, something we NEVER do. But a friends husband was playing in the band, so we went to watch him.
We were there a couple hours, when I looked at my phone to see what time it was. My agility instructor had JUST posted a plea needing a 24" dog for a team at her USDAA trial. So, I spent the weekend (Sat-Mon) running agility. :-)
Only the 2nd time I've done USDAA, but we did fairly well, ended the weekend with a 1st, 2nd, two 3rds and our team finished 5th overall. First time running snooker.. did okay in the opening, then got mixed up and took the wrong obstacle to start the closing.
Also did team relay for the first time. Frankie was a rock star! Because she's so easy, we ran last. 2nd dog to run doesn't like to get caught after running, I had put Frankie in a sit/stay to grab the baton, Ginny ran a big circle around Frankie and she never moved. As soon as hands were on Ginny, off we went. She got lots of compliments for staying so well. :-)

I think a lot of people stayed in this year for NYE.. My husband is a musician, so of course, he has to be out in it.It's the busiest time of year for entertainers. This year he had to play in Natchez, MS.. so there was no way I wanted to drive all the way there.. stay up to lord knows when, wake up early and drive all the way back to Bama-land.. So a group of my girlfriends and I decided to go to the lake house, watch movies, sit by the fire, cook and drink Champagne.. we didn't make it to 11pm on NYE.. so no countdown for us.. BUT.. I did wake up in time to see the first sunrise of the year.. It was a good time :) You can't tell in this photo.. but the temps felt 3 below.. and for Alabama.. that is unheard of..
Here is the sunrise for New Years Day.. I had the whole place to myself. so peaceful.

Wow, nice! We had warmer than normal temps. There were a lot of illegal fireworks in my neighborhood and I heard 3-4 gun shots at least. We are 8-10 degrees warmer than we should be so our heat is kicking on in the morning and our air is kicking on in the evening! Lol

That's funny Kit, I saw your post and even before I read it, I thought, she probably did some trial with a New Year's twist on it or something. I was close!

Hey, it was totally unplanned! LOL
Nothing like finding out Friday night that you're running for 3 days.
I wasn't even supposed to have my car. We were going to try to get it in for new tires on Saturday, but they didn't come in.
We found out coming home Christmas Eve that my tires suck! Took us over an hour to get home because of snow/ice, usually about 1/2 hour drive. At least we stayed out of ditches and actually made it home, which a LOT of people didn't. Sliding backwards down hills is NOT fun!
Sliding backwards down hills in a car is NOT fun! Hubby drove after the first slide.

I need tires too. I can get by this winter but definitely by next winter I'm going to need new ones. I hate buying tires. They are so expensive. I rather buy a piece of furniture or something.

that is hilarious!!! Can't say I've seen the toilet from that end in a looong while !!! :happyblush: Although I wish I had it in me to stay up and out past mid-night.. but it's a struggle these days.

We had the WORST time trying to find tires. I was going to get a basic set of studs for my car, but NOBODY had them in stock.
I so went with a good all-season tire (Cooper GS5, or something like that) Not cheap, but they are rated for 70k, so they should last a few years.

Funny thing, after I got the tires done, I went to Wal-Mart (which I RARELY do) spent less than $10, and the checker said that was a record for the say or something like that. I mentioned that I'd just bought new tires, the guy behind me, says 'yeah, that's never fun, what was it, around $400?'
I want to know what tires he's buying! Even the cheapest, poorly rated tries I found were more than that.
